Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

The other thing on my worrying mind is the fear of another D man going down. If that were to happen we'd right back to last year versus Ferris. If I was DU, I'd be super motivated to beat CC and Bucky to maintain the 2/3 seed spot. Going four would almost make the one and done a lock because you'd most likely draw the Redhawks or the Eagles. I don't want to see Johnny Hockey in the first game.

From sources, I heard last night that Didier was out for this CC series, but I would be absolutely surprised after hearing these things from the people that told me, that Didier WON'T play next week. Just heresay of course, but from reliable peeps.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

You Pio's phone it in this weekend and don't push CC off the cliff, Bucky is never speaking to you again. Even though that is pretty much the long term plan anyway.

GO DU!!

The only thing the Pios are doing this weekend is skinning some Kitty Kats. DU sweeps in 2. BTW, I have heard the long term plan is That DU will play WI and MN regularly over the next few seasons.

I believe that is correct, but after selling our soul to the $B1G$, being petty grudge holders will be a walk in the park. Better it doesn't come to that.

I don't know Todd. Sure he could dress but having a pulled hamstring he isn't going to be 100%. Sounds like Sean might be in the same place, not dressing tonight and might be able to go next weekend. We've been here before.

I keep going back and forth on what is best a win or a lose tonight. For selfish reasons (I'm headed to St Paul Wednesday night) I want us to be there to face Bucky Thursday. The rest that would come from the lose could really help (like Chambers was talking about Thursday). The biggest reason I want the W tonight is to stay a 2/3 seed like I said last night. I don't give a rip about CC. If they make it past us they'll get their a-s-s- served up on platter by UND and or the Gophs (both of whom would love to draw the p-u-s-s-i-e-s). They are just not very good this year.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Couldn't get back in the scoring thread last night after I tried to refresh.

Looking foward to a better result tonight.

Wait, the problem wasn't with my new computer? Maybe it's still in the dumpster.

Tonight will we be hearing more about how St. Patrick's Day is responsible for low attendance. Or that this is the "last WCHA" game at Magness? My money's on the latter. Although he got numerous St. Patrick's day references in last night. The guy has the play-by-play equivalent of Tourette's.

G*d d*mn it! Fingers crossed that we can still get in to the tournament. Hats off to the Tigers. Especially Joe Howe.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

I just ran the scenario with all of the favorites winning throughout the tourneys and DU ends up 12th in PWR. So DU would move up 1 spot. I think DU will probably end up in the tourney. The time off might be beneficial to get some injured players healthy.

yeah, i've run a bunch of worst and best case scenarios, and they end up between 9t and 12. Should be in, but we'll see i guess. Doesn't hurt to cheer for the favorites, or the teams that DU beat in noncon.

Man...olkinuora's decision to even play that puck, coupled with the fact that he scored on himself, is giving me a headache...he has to be smarter than that...

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

According to Patman's data: DU is 98.1% ensured of a slot in the tourney -- 0.3% a 2-seed, 83.3% a 3-seed, 14.5% a 4-seed.

Little sigh of relief, but I hate going into the tourney on such a down note.

I'll take the 83% chance of three seed and the rest! I still don't think this team has what it takes to make it out of a regional. I would love it, if I'm wrong. I'll be in St Paul next week to enjoy the stress free atmosphere and the see CC get hammered by the Sioux.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

I agreed with Gwoz's comments about this team's biggest flaw being letting up on the gas when they have a lead. Champions don't do that s-h-i-t! Champions smell blood and go in for the kill!

I think the NCAA's are going to be very entertaining. There isn't really any clear favorite. My guess is that the Red Hawks and the River Hawks have a pretty good chance to run the table.

So we end up 3-3-1 against the 57 club. That is about par for the course for this very strange season. Up and down and all over the place.

Yes, I agree CC came in and dropped the first game and then did what they needed to do to stay alive.

I thought the fundamentals of all the officiating crew tonight were really awful. They didn't enforce basic things like pitching people from face offs (I think they only pitched one guy--CC late in the third in their own end after DU had won the draw), number of players on the ice, monitoring cheating on icing changes, getting icing calls right etc, etc. It's too bad that these kids play 40+ games, work their tales off and the WCHA can't even field a crew for the playoffs that could pass the entry level test for the job.

I expect Todd Anderson will stay in the WCHA which means I just have to see him work a couple of more neutral games at the X next week. Good riddance buddy!

Which raises the question: where is the new conference going to go for officials?

Old Pio Anecdote Alert: Some rabbit eared ref called a bench minor on Murray for slamming the bench gate too loud to suit him (probably the only one of Murray's career) and Hoyt Brawner came literally on the run to the referee's crease and explained that another bone head, UP call like that and the dude would never work a WCHA game again.

I found one scenario where they are out, and it requires Union, Connecticut, Providence, Wisconsin, and Michigan to win the conference tournaments. Interestingly enough, switching out CC for Wisconsin but leaving the rest of the conference winners the same leaves DU in as the 16 seed,

Nice work, you found the 1.9% chance. I would think substituting Ohio State for Michigan might also be an option where DU would be out.
