That is 14 of the 19 upperclassmen on the team, including Bennett who is retired from hockey due to injury. Mermis is still listed on the roster. Freshmen aren't eligible for the team.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Bozie had the only goal in Leafs 3-1 loss to Pens tonight. Bennett had no points for Pens.

Every year these young guys give us ample reasons to be proud of them and the Pioneers (am I still allowed to use that word?).

Zucker making the trip for Saturday's game against the Avs. Yeo non-commital as to whether he would play.

Beau Bennett with a blast to beat Henrik Lundquist in the 1st period of Pens/Rangers game. At the end of 1 it is Pens 1-0.

Former Pio D'Animal Olzewski and the Wisconsin Eau Claire BluGolds will be playing for the Div 3 National Championship at Lake Placid.

(Wonder what a BluGold mascot looks like;) :p)

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Hard fought game tonight. CC bounced back and played a considerably better game. They had more of a fore check, were better in the n-zone and closed up shot lanes. Howe also was much more solid then he was Friday--giving up just one goal on 43 shots.

Highlight for DU was the Knowlton pass down the entire ice to set up the goal. It was beating CC at their own game.

Biggest negative for DU was Sean going down. Sounds like he was in a lot of pain when he came back out in the third (I was very surprised he returned--he's a super tough kid). Us losing JD was bad enough--given how thin we already were with our roster. Sean is an anchor and we'll be in deep trouble if he isn't close to 100% heading into the NCAA tourney.

DU's PP was more spotty tonight. The umbrella was ineffective. We really struggled with gaining the zone and setting up the cycle.

Should be another good game tomorrow night before a crowd of about 2,500 (myself included). Denver is clearly the better team. The key to closing out with the win tomorrow night is the same as it has been all weekend. Can we play disciplined hockey? If we do, and do it for the better part of sixty minutes, CC is bad enough that they can beat themselves with mistakes. I'm thinking UC will be pumped to lay down a signature game. It will be interesting to see if Owen's comes back with Howe. My guess would be yes, given that he was better tonight. A W tomorrow would most likely give us the afternoon game Thursday against Bucky.

REPOST from the scoring thread prior to the USCHO servers dropping a massive chalupa during playoff hockey:

OK! I've uploaded 28 of the 400 shots I took last night to my website. CC vs. DU - WCHA Playoffs Game 1. When you view them, please help me out. If you let your mouse hover over picture, there is a context menu that comes up. On that context menu, you can give a picture a thumbs up or thumbs down. Please take the time to choose one for each shot (and please grade on quality of shot, not that CC scored). Also, if you particularly like a photo, you can make a comment telling me why. I need to get better at this and knowing if people like or dislike a picture and why will totally help me out. I need to convince Mr. Randy Press at DU that I deserve a chance to come back. Also notice that I have spend great time to make sure the DU uniforms are actually white, not pink or blue or yellow. I noticed that the CC professional photographer who put his shots up on CC's website has pink ice and pink DU uniforms. It's tough lighting to be sure, but if you are a pro, pink ice or pink uniforms? Come on, man!

And, to head of any heckling from our buddy Ron Mexico, if you chime in poorly on my behalf, I'll post the photos I took of you after DU scored goals (and others) directly on USCHO. :D

I have included some good pictures of CC moments in the game as well, as I am a hockey photographer not being paid by DU.

Thanks in advance for everyone's support. It means a lot to me. Fans of all teams are welcome to view and comment!
