Re: All Things Denver XXXII

INCH keeps the Pios at # 9 in the rankings.
However they did move idle Union up to # 2.:p

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Watched both Sconnie games this weekend and the playbook for DU will be to stop their power play. They roll their first unit out there for almost the whole two minutes.

If DU grips their sticks on Friday night like they did against UND, they could easily lose this series in two games. No doubt DU has the roughest opponent of any of the WCHA home teams this weekend.

DU usually wins when they score three or more goals and Sconnnie is hardly an offensive juggernaught. So score early and often.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Bruce Ciskie published his All WCHA ballot.
The Good News he picked Laleggia as ROY and has him in the 2nd Team as well as the All Rookie Team.
The bad news Drew Shore and Jason Zucker on the Third Team.:mad:

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Drew on the third team is a joke, no? Maybe he hasn't seen many DU games this year.

That has to be the case. Drew has been the best player on the Pioneers (IMO), and is arguably the best player in the league. He's terribly undervalued by the media.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Chambers mentioned on the radio that he was thinking of voting Drew WCHA Player of the year. Seems reasonable if you think that Schultz & Schwartz (both great players) didn't elevate their teams in the standings.

Zucker takes a lot of the ink away from Drew, but Shore has the ability to physically dominate a game.

I think the WCHA/college hockey media has a tendency to want to nominate post season awards to guys you are going to make an impact at the NHL level. That way college hockey/WCHA gets free plugs on future NHL broadcasts for years to come.

Agree with you 100%

Speaking of hoops;) Pios are on ESPN3 tonight.6:30 MT
And our basketball team actually came for an education:

Academic All-American: Senior Brian Stafford was among the 15 student-athletes named CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning a spot on the third team. Stafford is a finance major with a 3.7 cumulative grade-point average. Both Stafford and Chase Hallam were named CoSIDA Academic All-District 7. As a team, the Pioneers compiled a 3.4 combined GPA in 2010-11.

Sun Belt Academic Awards: Denver student-athletes Chase Hallam, Travis Hallam, Brian Stafford, Tyler Thalken and Chris Udofia were honored prior to the quarterfinal game on Sunday as members of the 2011-12 SBC Commissioner's List by earning a 3.5 grade-point average or better. Justin Coughlin, Rob Lewis, Alex Pickert and Charles Webb were honored as members of the 2011-12 Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll for earning a 3.0-3.49 GPA

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

DU Hoops playing in the SBC semifinal tonight! It is on ESPN3.

BTW RPI won last night and plays Union this weekend.
I have it on as we speak. How awesome would it be to see DU get their arses kicked by Duke? And I am not being sarcastic. Just to get to play in that tournament would be so cool.

Announcers just gave a great stat. When Joe Scott came to DU, they were ranked 335 in RPI out of 336.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand ...... not so much. DU loses the game with WKU by 4.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

You were hearing DU cheerleaders and band. Basically everyone there cheering for DU was paid to be there. :D
Yeah. I started noticing that a couple of groups of Western Kentucky fans were getting crowd shots, but none of DU fans.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Bump and holding at #9 in the polls!!

Oh and I'm not afraid of Wisconsin!!!
If DU plays at the top of their game, I believe that they will beat Wisconsin. But they don't always play at the top of their game.

So I agree with you, I'm not afraid of Wisconsin. I'm a little afraid of DU, though. :o Overall, I am pretty optimistic about this weekend.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

I don't have the patience to go back and look, but did someone say something about having tickets to all three games? Is it possible to get tickets to game three already? There doesn't seem to be a link for them on the ticket website.

Perhaps they are a season ticket holder? I would imagine that they would get tickets to all three games in their season ticket package.

It is a little odd that they don't sell tickets to game 3 though...apparently DU is really confident in a sweep.
