Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Interesting weekend. CC as bad at they are hung in there and kept working. Good to see DU dig down in the last 10 of the third tonight and get it done. We're up to 4th in the conference and 6th in the PWR.
Next three weekends are going to be great!

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

The Pios skill proved too much for CC over the weekend. Larazza was a big factor in the Saturday game. In addition to scoring twice, his first period fly-by elbow to the head of Sam Rothstein knocked the Tigers' best center out of the game. Amazingly undetected by the refs or linesman...but not surprising given the overall poor officiating throughout the league all season. If the league looks at the hit, Larazza could face supplemental discipline. Nasty, dirty, uncalled for shot to the head.

Lol, I only went off because I was drunk, and you are entirely welcome to your opinions, but you don't need to be such a d1ck about delivering it.

I know you're a good dude, and a well-connected dude, just don't get all high-and-mighty and we'll all get along. Fun **** though!

Well said, that's all I was trying to say too.

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Ahh, it's "elevator season" for teams in the PWR as they jockey for favorable position heading into the final weeks of the regular season in advance of post-season play. Denver began this weekend's play in 9th place in the PWR. Here's a look at how the top nine teams [heading into the just concluded weekend] did in relation to the PWR.

1. Minnesota State began and ended the weekend at #1.
2. North Dakota began and ended the weekend at #2.
3. Boston University began the weekend at #3 and slipped four places to #7.
4. Duluth began the weekend at #4 and gained a spot to#3.
5. Neb-O began the weekend at #5 and fell three spots to #8.
6. Miami began the weekend at #6 and jumped two spots to #4.
7. Michigan Tech began the weekend at #7 and improved two spots to #5.
8. Bowling Green began the weekend at #8, but after being swept by NMU, dropped to #13.
9. Denver began the weekend at #9, but with a sweep of rival CC, rose three spots to #6.

Bowling Green was the lone team which began the weekend in the top 8 of the PWR, but fell out of the top eight. Denver began the weekend outside the top eight in the PWR, but was the only team to jump into the top eight by the end of the weekend.

Entering the last two weeks of NCHC regular season play the team with seemingly the toughest schedule, but with perhaps the greatest opportunity to improve its PWR standing, is Miami. The Redhawks play in Denver this coming weekend and finish the regular season by hosting North Dakota.

And I will also ditto this. Including the drunk part...though at least 75% of my opinions are written sober. The other 25% are much better, though.

Chris--it's funny that you're claiming to be attacked for your opinions, when your attacking of others' opinions is what some others are criticizing you for! Oh, the irony. Just chill out a bit---when I was saying that Cowley deserved to start the 2nd game against North Dakota, I wasn't saying that Jailett suxx. When I say that I miss Gwoz, it doesn't mean I hate Montgomery. These are some reading interpretation things that will help you get along with the kids. We've both been posting her for an eternity. I certainly don't claim to be right all the time, but it's more fun to express some half-baked and (occasionally fully-baked) opinions when the opinion police aren't looking over your shoulder.

More half-baked opinions: great sweep of the arch-rival. Really impressive to get the first 4-game sweep of CC since like 1988. This was something that was missing from Gwoz's resume--beating CC when they were down. Kudos to the coaches and players for the focus. I'll nominate Larkin Jacobsen's Saturday night goal for DU goal of the year. Reminded me just a bit of Lukas Dora's game winner in the 2004 Frozen Four vs. UMD. Just a great play from one end of the ice to the other.

Nice turnout and effort by the students, hopefully they'll show up for the Miami games, too.

I think I read that DU is up to #6 in the power. Awesome. And lastly: Adam Foote sighting at the game. I think he has a couple of kids, wonder if they are good hockey players and whether DU will eventually be on their radar.

Wow, I didn't know what happened to the CC player. Maybe the refs didn't, either. Hope the CC player is doing OK. Without seeing the play, I can't comment, but I hope it wasn't a dirty play. If it was, I guess the league will see it.

We saw that hit (along the south/east side half wall) and wondered how they missed it. Unnecessary hit. Hopefully the kid is ok.

Anybody know what happened to Marble? When he left in the third, he went straight down the tunnel....seemed like an odd time to switch without an injury.

My question too--read somewhere he was tired???

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

BU's 4-3 overtime win against Northeastern moves the Terriers from 7th to 6th in the PWR pushing Denver down one spot from 6th to 7th.

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Reported that he left with cramps due to dehydration... Shame too. He has been the only reason why CC has been even close in their recent games. The Tigers defense didn't even close to help Marble at all this past weekend.

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Viva suspended one game by NCHC for his flying elbow.
Again, I can't comment too much because I didn't see the hit. But someone sitting near me who saw it (a DU fan) said it was an ill-advised (to put it nicely) play by Larazza. Bad decision...hurts the CC player, hurts Larazza, hurts DU. Not much gained from that one. DU needs to be firing on all cylinders at the end of the season, which is much tougher to do if you have Moore out one game, Larazza out another game, etc.

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

NCHC Players of the Week:
Offense--Heinen
Defense--LaLeggia

Guess it would have been embarrassing if Larraza won;)
