Donovan to 3rd Team All American.
Brittain and Zucker All American Rookie Team.

>Wish Drew Shore was getting a little more attention.:o
>Jaden Schwartz over Zucker for ROTY:confused::eek:
>Miele over Frattin for POTY (Sioux fans will go crazy)

Congrats to all of the boys on a job well done.

Miele has 11 more points than Frattin and I personally feel Miele will win the Hobey.

Jaden averaged 1.57 points per game to Jay Z's 1.12 and Tynan's 1.23. Only player with better stats was Miele with 1.82 PPG. At the rate he scored and if he hadn't gotten hurt, Jaden would have had more points than Frattin and won the WCHA scoring title. I love Jay Z but Jaden was putting up senior numbers as a frosh.

Drew ended up tied 19th nationally in scoring. He had a great year and was definitely the most improved player. By comparison Jaden Schwartz ended up with one more point in 10 less games. I would expect Drew to be up for lots of honors next year.

I was surprised as well by Drew Shore being left out. Schwartz over Zucker, to me, is a tossup. Had Schwartz been healthy for the entire season, he could very well have been in the Hobey Hat Trick. That being said, staying healthy is part of the game. I saw Zucker more often, and thought he was a tad more explosive, so I would lean more towards Zucker than Schwartz.

As for Miele, he is one of the best players in college hockey, and once INCH picked Dell as their Goalie of the Year, I knew it would be Miele over Frattin. I don't disagree with the pick, but if I had a vote, I would put on the kelly green glasses and vote for Frattin :p:D:D Miele is a very deserving player of the year, and will most likely be a fantastic Hobey Baker Award winner. It tough to argue with the stats that he put up. About the only thing Frattin has in his favor is the massive amount of goals that he has put up. If he puts up 4 (a tall task for sure), this weekend, he'll be the first 40 goal scorer in college hockey in 20 years.

Latest on next year's recruiting class, so far 9 incoming players

2011 Recruiting Class
D Scott Mayfield (Youngstown, USHL)
F Zac Larraza (U.S. Under-18)
F Garrett Allen (Chicago, USHL)
D Joey LaLeggia (Penticton Vees, BCHL)
F Larkin Jacobson (Janesville Jets, NAHL)
D-F Wade Bennett (Wichita Falls, NAHL)
F Matt Tabrum (Omaha, USHL)
F Daniel Doremus (Sioux Falls, USHL)
D Matt Van Voorhis (U.S. Under-18)

Players graduating/left early, so far 11
F Jones (left in Dec.)
D Wrenn (left in Jan.)
D Donovan (left in Mar.)
F/D Brehm (Sr)
F/D Cook (Sr)
F Maiani (Sr)
F Martin (Sr)
D Nutini (Sr)
F K. Ostrow (Sr)
F Jackson (RJr)
G Rosenholtz

DU still needs to pick up a 3rd goalie and could possibly use another forward to keep the roster at 27. The roster depth last season was hurt when Jones and Wrenn left after Christmas and Jesse was injured in October. DU was down to 24 players including 3 goalies starting in January.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Rahkshani got a natural hat trick in 2 minutes this afternoon http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1008476. His first goal chased out RPI's Allen York.

Edit: story http://www.soundtigers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=22700&ATCLID=205130213

Thanks for the story Ralph.

And we thought the 6 minutes against St. Cloud was quick :)

Re: All Things Denver XXX

So here's a personal challenge! The stars are aligned tomorrow night where I have nothing to do and the wife and kids are all out of the house!! I am planning on taping today's games and I'm wondering if I can put off watching them until tomorrow night. Is it possible to get through Friday without finding out about the scores? Can I not go on this site for a day?

Thoughts?

Anything is possible especially if you stay away from your TV and computer for the next day or so. :)

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Patrick Wiercioch not one of 5 recalled by Ottawa today from Binghamton for tonight's Sens/Habs game. Binghamton made the playoffs last night and Patrick remains with them for now.

Joe Colborne playing nicely for the Toronto Marlies. He is 2nd on the team in scoring with 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points in 74 AHL games this season including his stint with Providence. He has 15 points (8 goals, 7assists) in 18 games with the Marlies.

Kyle Ostrow played for Portland in their 6-5 OT win last night over Manchester. Kyle didn't make the score sheet except for a double minor for high sticking. He was -1 as he was on the ice for DU alum Patrick Mullen's 2nd goal of the season.

Oh well.... Go Duluth!!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Now how about Zucker???

All signs seem to point at him staying but one never knows until school starts next fall. If Dono is the only one that leaves I like DU's chances next season.
