Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Full 2010/11 DU roster now posted on DU website. As was suspected Lars Paulgaard is not on it. DU has 18 returning letterman, 7 Frosh and 1 walk-on senior goalie in Josh Rosenholtz.

DU Roster

2010/11 DU Quick facts are out. Rosenholtz will be wearing #28. Former DU player Gavin Morgan is the new volunteer assistant coach.

It appears our new friend from NMU, "boot", has a vuvuzela fetish. Hopefully we can try to finnish this page quickly.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Should we be worried about Gwoz here or is this just good news for Miller plain and simple? And does this change his job description?, more money, different responsibilities, etc?

Congratulations to Steve!!!

I wouldn't be worried. Definitely more money and probably some more responsibility.

Interesting stats about where this coming season's team come from.

Hometown States/Provinces of this year's team
Colorado - 7
Alberta - 4
Alaska - 2
Illinois - 2
Minnesota - 2
California - 1
Connecticut - 1
Iowa -1
Michigan - 1
Missouri - 1
Nebraska - 1
Nevada - 1
Oklahoma - 1
Wisconsin - 1

That's 13 states and 1 province in Canada. I doubt there are many teams with players from 13 different states. DU with only 4 Canadians on this year's roster. Also DU is rostering 2 less players thna last season when they had 28 on the team.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Yesterday on Performance Today the final piece in the first hour was:
Carl Nielsen
Serenata in Vano
Musicians from the Colorado College Summer Music Festival
Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Colorado Springs, Colorado

It was very nice. For us English only types, the title of the piece is "Serenade in Vain". Perhaps there is a hockey related conclusion to be drawn that might cause Jaden Schwartz to rethink his enrollment there... Perhaps not.

"Serenata in vano is a humorous trifle," the composer wrote. "First the gentlemen play in a somewhat chivalric and showy manner to lure the fair one out onto the balcony, but she does not appear. Then they play in a slightly languorous strain (Poco adagio), but that hasn't any effect either. Since they have played in vain (in vano), they don't care a straw and shuffle off home to the strains of the little final march, which they play for their own amusement."

It does sound like a real promotion and a well deserved one.
Possible that other teams needing a head coach had been sniffing around.

NHL Prospect Camps
Boston Bruins-Joe Colborne-begins 7/6
Atlanta Thrashers-Jesse Martin-begins 7/8
Philadelhia Flyers-JP's little brother, Mike Testwuide-begins 7/5
New York Islanders 7/6, but no roster yet
Penguins, Wild and Panthers couldn't find a date or roster.

Meanwhile in Ottawa-Patrick Wiercioch can be seen lifting weights ( Day 1 #4) and taking a knee on the ice (Day4 #6).

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Guess I should read DU's releases more often. DU ranked #65 in final Director's Cup standings.
http://blogs.du.edu/today/news/du-garners-another-strong-finish-in-ncaa-director’s-cup

I just saw another release, this time by the by the USGA. Kimberly Kim to go pro in next week's U.S. Woman's Open. Big Hit to the program. She is possibly one of the top 10 "match play" women golfers in the world, but medal play is a totally different ballgame. She is a gambler who makes tons of double and triple bogeys.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

When is Grimaldi supposed to make his decision?

Could that help explain 26 players versus 28?

Good Luck to Kimberly. The Lady Linksters will surely miss her.

Can't help you out on a roster, but the MN Wild's camp will be held the week of July 12-19th. They had an open schrimmage last year, so being as I live in St Paul, hopefully I will be able to go. :)

Would expect Jason Zucker to be there. Hopefully you'll be able to report back on his great play in the scrimmage.

Keep us updated if the local media has any good reports.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

No surprise. Both Rakhshani and Donovan will be attending the Isles Prospect Camp which begins tomorrow.
