Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Pretty cool -- The first annual Denver Hockey Alumni Pro Camp started today in Joy Burns Ice Arena. The camp attracted 17 skaters and two goaltenders during day one.

Former Pioneer All-Americans Paul Stastny, Chris Butler, Marc Cheverie, Gabe Gauthier and Rhett Rakhshani were joined on the ice by Peter Mannino, Joe Colborne, Geoff Paukovich, J.D. Corbin, J.P. Testwuide, Ryan Dingle, Tom May, Matt Glasser and Brandon Vossberg. Also participating during the first day of pro camp were current Colorado Avalanche players David Koci, Kyle Quincey and Cody McLeod, and former Toronto Maple Leaf Garnet Exelby and former Av Ben Guite.

This would be a pretty good team if they all played on the same team...

New Trier graduates include: Bruce Dern, Ann-Margaret, Rock Hudson and Charlton Heston. I know you were all dying to know that.

Years ago Bellaire HS in Houston used to have a significant number of students at DU, don't know about now.

"Gauthier, Dingle, Paukovich, Corbin and Testwuide are free agents."

Will be interesting to see where they land

From what I can tell Corbin hasn't played since the 2008/09 season with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. I know he was injured for most of that season as he only played 19 games. I guess he is looking to make a comeback.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Disappointed? Yes. Depressed? No.

DU won the WCHA and had an awesome season that just ended too early. We all had tons of fun until the very last day. Such is is the nature of sports, and in a one-and-done scenario, the best team doesn't always win. Yeah, I was ticked at the time - it was a lost opportunity. That said, another 40+ teams didn't make it to the dance, and DU did win the toughest-to-win trophy in the college game.

If you want guaranteed endings, it's best to stick to opera.

In the meantime, enjoy the ride, even if you puke at the end.

Haha. I agree we did have an awesome season and I enjoyed every part of it. That being said I really was dissapointed/depressed with the last few games of the 2009/10 campaign but oh well.

I completley agree with you on the fact that there were 40+ teams that were even more dissapointed at not even making the big dance but none of those teams were the #1/#2 team in the nation but again oh well.

None the less, I'm very excited for the upcoming season. We have a tremendous schedule and lots of young talent.

GO PIOS!:D

"Former Pioneers J.D. Corbin and J.P. Testwuide have signed contracts for the 2010-11 season. Corbin signed a one-year deal with Bakersfield of the ECHL. Testwuide signed a contract with Philadelphia of the AHL. He joins his brother, Mike, for the 2010-11 season. Mike Testwuide was a standout performer for Colorado College from 2006-10."

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Former DU player Gavin Morgan has been hired as an assistant coach at UAH. He joins new coach Chris Louongo and new assistant coach Mike Warde. At the time of hire, he was inquiring of being a volunteer coach at DU.

Best of luck to him and the program down in Huntsville. Hopefully with all the turmoil they still can build on their successes from last year. If anyone has a good bio, or can copy from an old media guide, the UAH thread would be grateful.

Chambers had a good rundown on the DU pro camp today

Some of the current DU players got a chance to scrimmage with the pros. Good experience...

DU's basketball team going to Spain next week. 10 extra days of practice before the trip. Wonder if Joe Scott will look for the next Pau Gassol?
