Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Drew Shore gets his 2nd NHL goal tonight against Buffalo. Now it's up to Beau to match Drew and JZ:)

JZ gets his 3rd NHL goal an hour after Drew's 2nd.

Big game tonight. Let's hope the guys brought their A game to Minnesota. Seems like the keys to the game are the same as every other game. No passes to the other team in front of the net, no stupid penalties (by Mayfield or anyone else), be aggressive on offense, and solid goaltending. This team can beat Minnesota, or anyone else, when they play well.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

It is Loney's birthday today, I would think he wants to have a big game tonight.

Suggested gift: multi-point game for ty (GWG or hat trick would be nice) which leads to a win over the gophs.:D

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Drew Shore (2-8-10) was edged for February rookie of the month by teammate Jonathan Huberdeau (6-3-9). Both played 13 games.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

This team drives me crazy! They play well one game, badly another. It was great to see them get the win tonight. I was only able to listen, and clearly the Minnesota fans felt that the outcome was more about the Gophers playing badly than the Pioneers playing well, but one way or another, I'll take a win.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

goph fans forget that the other team may affect the way their team plays.
Only 5 penalties for the Pios...that's 4 less than the average:o ;)

True. But expecting Gopher fans to compliment a team that they feel they "should" sweep is probably WAY too much. :) It sounded to me like Jussi played extremely well tonight, and that the team in general played pretty solidly.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Team played a great road game. Made few mistakes and didn't take a lot of risky chances. Kept the puck going north and south. Pressured Minny in all 3 zones. Never let them set up on the PP and supposedly outshot the Gophers 8-2 on their PPs. Gwoz indicated Sam will probably be in goal tomorrow.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

We really need CC to win tonight. DU holds the tiebreaker over 'Kato, but not wisco. Let's Go CC! (Shoot me tomorrow)

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Hopefully DU can repeat what they did last night tonight. DU needs to play smart disciplined hockey again. The zone coverages last night were some of the best we have seen all year. A win tonight pretty much seals DU's invite to the dance and puts them in a great position to host a home playoff series in 2 weeks.

Another win tonight would just be absolutely huge. I have been incredibly negative in recent weeks, but last night they showed us the same thing they showed in those first 5 weeks of the season: the ability to just get it done. Minnesota should be fired up tonight. That was the first time they were shut out this year, and only the third time they were held under 2 goals. I can only assume that Lucia laid some heavy fire and brimstone on them, and this Minnesota team, I think, is just too good to lay down for another licking. I think DU probably has to play their best game of the season to get the win tonight.

That said, DU should be up, too. They know how good Minnesota is. They have to know that no one else shut them out this year. They have to have the pride to know how huge a sweep in Mariucci would be. I believe that they have the talent and the skill IF they play as a unit, shoot the puck, don't take stupid penalties, or make stupid turnovers in the defensive zone. And, as Swami would say, move their feet.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Taking stupid penalties comes naturally to this team. Sadly, that's the only thing on your list that is sure to happen. Duper I'm glad to hear you channelling your inner swami!
