Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Good job!
Gauthier is with Denver Cutthroats with Fulghum and McKenzie and is currently injured.
Beau Bennett with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

Sounds like Donovan will get a shot to make Islanders, Bridgeport's best d-man this season and Snow said one of the Bridgeport d-men will be on Isles.

Will be interesting to see if Colborne gets a shot with Leafs and Bennett gets a shot with Pens.
Made the corrections on my list--Thanks.

Colborne has not been havong a good year with the Marlies. Bennett is doing well at WBS.
Hope Donovan gets the chance and makes it.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Brandon Vossberg signed a contract yesterday with the Denver Cutthroats. That makes him the 4th former Pio on the team.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

The Referee who got into some trouble at the Alaska airport has been "acquitted". Charges dropped. I will be curious to see if he is brought back on board with the WCHA yet this year, or if he's gobbled up by the NCHC next year. Since he lives in the Denver area (or atleast it was reported that he did when all this went down), I expect he'll just regroup and then go to work for Don Adam in the fall. I don't see him being too much of a conversationalist at the airport though :)

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Should be another tough series. Red Mavs are currently in 1st in the WCHA. Ryan Walters appears to be a scoring machine this year.

And both DU and UNO lost a player to the Kanadian Knights in the last 2 weeks.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Update on DU's d-men that left early for major juniors in Canada

TJ Fast's rights were traded from Greenville in the ECHL to Bakersfield. He was not playing for Greenville and last played for Hamilton of the AHL on loan last season. he was at DU for 1.5 years.

Keith Seabrook is listed as retired on Elite Prospects and last played for Val Pusteria (Brunico) in Italy earlier this season. He was at DU for 1 year.

William Wrenn having a decent year with the Alaska Aces in the ECHL. He has 16 points in 38 games and is plus 4. He was at DU for 1.5 years.

All three of these players were 2nd round NHL picks.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Arthur Staple form Newsday just tweeted this about Islanders players in Bridgeport and their chances of being with Isles.

Arthur Staple ‏@StapeNewsday
On D, I'd say Hamonic/Donovan are locks, Ness a longshot. Among Fs, Nino/McDonald/Persson/Sundstrom/Cizikas/Nelson all have a chance. #Isles

Hope that prediction about Donovan comes true.

Quite an accomplishment if DU were to have five players in the NHL this season: Donovan, Carle, Butler, Bozak & Stastny

To me Wiercoich was the best looking Freshman I saw from the get go.

Hard to believe that Joey Legg's stats his Freshman year were better than Carle's freshman season.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Further update on TJ Fast. He has been signed to a PTO by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Check out Pioneer Vision interviews with Paul Phillips, Tyler Bozak and Luke Fulghum. The latter two were on Root.

It would be GREAT for @squatchdonovan to be playing in the NHL this year.
(maybe that is one reason TJ Fast is getting a tryout for the Sound Tigers.)

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Now Michigan has lost a Freshman forward to the OHL

Wonder if we'll ever see any Seniors in college hockey ever again.

Probably not any top seniors. Think about a guy like Maggie, who led DU to back-to-back NC's, and if there had been a Hobey, would have won it at least once (probably twice). With a CV like that, what're the odds he would have stayed all four years if playing now? Zero.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

From the Springs Gazette article on CC's woes:
"Junior Josh Thorimbert belongs on any list of the most talented goaltenders in the college game, but he’s been reduced to a shadow of himself since a violent collision in front of the net Feb. 4 against DU."
I don't recall this incident. Anyone else out there have recall or a clip to share? Vicious crime or unfortunate disagreement with a water bottle?

Joe Howe stopped 17 shots in relief of Thorimbert, who left the game in the second period with an injury.
There's no video of the 2/4/12 DU-CC game on Pio Vision. There is a full game audio, but couldn't/didn't listen to it.
Made me curious, but not that curious.;)

I would be nice if the "journalist" who wrote that would have given us more details--especially the nature of his injury.
