Alaska Anchorage @ Minnesota 10/30/09-11/1/09

Re: Alaska Anchorage @ Minnesota 10/30/09-11/1/09

How many times did a player on the penalized team control the puck and there be no whistle? I counted three, Budish's goal came after one of those situations.

The worst was the one leading up to the final 5x3 advantage for MN. I actually thought for a couple seconds that the Gopher was being called for diving, because UAA had complete possession from not just 1 but 2 of their players.

Just wanted to comment after watching the DVR replay that my impression from the stands last night was accurate. Clark is definitely in the running with Lasch at SCSU for the all WCHA diving trophy. Either that, or he has the worst skating base of a DI player. Breath on him hard and he goes done like he was shot. :)

You mean the Robbie Earl Excellence in Diving Trophy?

Yeah that was amazingly bad. I thought Phil Cuzzi and Tim McClelland had the orange bands on last night. Oh they were awful.

That's something to build on. That Seawolves team sure didn't play or act like they had just beaten a UND team.

That's for sure. But then Minny didn't play like a team that has been shut out in 3 of 4 games this year either.

Hard for me to gauge. Throw out the first MN game against UND cause they didn't even show up that game. The second one against UND they put up 3 and I'd say probably played as well as they did last night. The two shutouts against Denver had as much to do with Denver as they did Minnesota's play. Cheverie owns them.

I think you and I will both have a better feel after Sunday's game. It's difficult finishing a sweep in this league and UAA is going to come out gangbusters. Minnesota can't afford to let up just cause they rolled the first game.

Clark spent two minutes feeling shame for diving last weekend against UND but I'm not sure it was called that in the box score. Bariball belongs on the short list too. That said, I'm not sure anyone in the league this year truly deserves the honor, as none are even close to the namesake. Sorta like giving out a Gretzky award within my buddy's beer league.

Sorry, you can't "throw out" games, or pick and choose. It is what it is, just like UAA didn't show up last night. I'd like to "throw out" that game as well.

I didn't see it, but I did hear the UAA announcer mention a Clark dive. However, he does not typically play that way, but he generally does get mugged by the other team. UND really did a number on him, but he often "asks" for it, as he is a pest. I love him! ;) At least he plays with passion.

LOL. what?

You said that Minnesota didn't play like a team that was shut out for 3 games. I said that it was difficult for me to gauge and here's why. I wasn't throwing out game one, I was throwing it out of my analysis.

If you want to say the Seawolves didn't show up that's fine. That's basically what I already said. But don't assume that Minnesota won by playing their best hockey, that hasn't happened yet, they played Friday about the same as they played against Denver.

No. Friday was by far their best effort this season and much better than either games with Denver.

Re: Alaska Anchorage @ Minnesota 10/30/09-11/1/09

Star Tribune reporting in this mornings paper that Nick Leddy will be out for at least 6 weeks with broken jaw. He was injured in 1st period of Friday nights game. Too bad for the kid as he seems to be a breath of fresh air with his play so far this season.

Re: Alaska Anchorage @ Minnesota 10/30/09-11/1/09

UAA didn't come to play this weekend. They don't look anything like the team that played against UND last Saturday...they are more resembling the team that showed up against UND last Friday.

The Friday version of the UAA team that played UND was just what the Gophers needed (and got) this weekend.

Minnesota needed these two wins before what will be a tough road series with Bucky.
