Wouldn't that be the ultimate punk if fornax was an alias of mine? Unfortunately I'm way too lazy to set up an alias and way too lazy to set up a website with Forester hockey stuff like he has linked on his footer.

...a clever post none the less !:)

Re: Adrian vs SNC @ 'The Stone'

Don't just look at the results. Look at the quality of opponents, too.

Opponent win %
SNC: 0.5478 (ranked 5th nationally)
Adrian: 0.4612 (ranked 19th)

Opponent's opponents:
SNC: 0.5408 (ranked 2nd nationally)
Adrian: 0.4674 (ranked 18th)

vs. Ranked Teams:
SNC: 5- 1- 2 (ranked 1st nationally)
Adrian: 0- 2- 0 (ranked 16th)

You're certainly entitled to your own speculations about the game on Wednesday, but please do so looking at more than just overall records.
Don't forget this happened. :)

Don't take your opponent too lightly!

Re: Adrian vs SNC @ 'The Stone'

I doubt anyone here is taking Adrian at all lightly. Most of us on the SNC side have a pretty good idea what to expect from our team. We're very interested to see how Adrian responds. I will say since they didn't bother showing up for the Saturday night game in Eau Claire almost 2 months ago they've been a different team. The team defense is what I'm excited about. They've given up one goal or less in the last 8 games in a row. I don't know if that streak will hold but it's been looking good.

Good point! However after what happened yesterday in the BS selection, I would think that Adrian will be the first of many to feel the wrath of a team that feels disrepected. SNC has been playing very well as of the last 4-5 weeks and now has a bit of extra incentive due to yesterday's "screwing". Add in the obvious that "win or go home" and I believe that you have the makings of a very dangerous team. My prediction is SNC 6-2.

You are absolutely right and thanks for the analysis. We shared it with the coaching staff & the team here in Adrian, they all agreed that the outcome has already been pre-determined based on this information. We have therefore called SNC to cancel the game and told the bus driver to go home since we won't be needing the bus.

Thanks for saving us the trouble of driving all that way only to get "schooled".

P.S. Our guys can only play against those teams which agree to play us. SNC has avoided playing Adrian for 3 years. I am one of the people that clearly understood that SNC got no benefit out of playing Adrian in the past. They couldn't improve their ranking with a win over Adrian and a loss would have serious negative consequences. Having said that, I, for one, am glad that they play the game on the ice rather than use the analysis on a scrap piece of paper to determine the outcome of a game.

I suspect that both teams will put on a great show. Our BullDogs are a little banged up but I bet that SNC is as well this time of year. Looking forward to the game.

Go BullDogs Go.

I wish you could understand the emotion that the BullDogs players have inside them for the "disrespect" that they have received from the NCAA committee for the last 2 years. They are truly motivated to show the committee that they were wrong in overlooking them after going 53-4 in the first 2 years of their hockey lives.

Bring it on....

Where in the hell in the post that you are attaching does it say anything about being schooled? All the post stated was that in addition to won loss records, you should also take into effect the other criteria mentioned. The game will be settled on the ice! Relax and enjoy your bus ride!!!

TBB,
SNC's record this season was certainly worthy of a bye.
Although as a hockey fan, this is the matchup I hoped for, because it wasn't going to happen anytime soon in a N/C match.

As for your SNC +4 prediction goes.....I'll take the under.;)

Northern:

I agree that SNC deserved the bye and have nothing against the fact that Adrian is coming up to play. My problem is with the NCAA selection and the ratio of East West teams and position based upon seeding. I do not have any problems with any of the teams in the tourney with the exception of Elmira which is on another thread already.

As far as a hockey fan, I agree and believe that there are many SNC fans who want to see Adrian to see if they are legit or not. I will stay with my prediction and know that I will have very little to do with the outcome from the stands. By the way, ticket sales are brisk!! I expect a very wild crowd.

Webb and I predicted this matchup @Mars in November, with the exception that we thought it would be Saturday, not Wednesday.

I'm glad to see it happening, but with the distances involved between the two schools, I can't see it migrating to the regular season. It would be nice, but D-III hockey does not make money and $$ rule the day in the athletic departments these days.

It will be webb casted, won't it??

Re: Adrian vs SNC @ 'The Stone'

Prof, on the same page of this thread I have a post saying how the whining will change when Adrian wins. I'm not making an official prediction at this point, but am being as snide as possible.

I wasn't attacking you, JC, just trying to be funny. (Of course no one's ever said I succeed at that.)

Re: Adrian vs SNC @ 'The Stone'

I"ll be curious to see what kind of crowd Adrian brings to the 'STONE' I have seen them play several times in Milw. and Appleton. The crowd seemed to be parents and friends, very few students.( NO EXCUSES, THIS IS THE BIG SHOW)
Take a deep breath !!!!! SNC 5 Adrain 3

Well, our students are on spring break right now, so don't expect many of them. If the game was on the weekend, I'd be there, but unfortunately my kids don't have spring break, so a Wednesday trip just ain't possible. I think that's going to be the big issue for a lot of people.

I wasn't meaning St Norbert should overlook Adrian or take them lightly. My point was in response to a prior post that appeared to make a prediction based solely on the overall records of the teams.

Your family travel policy doesn't allow you to fly over to St. Norbert from Adrian?

Hopefully the place will be packed with MCHA supporters from the cheez region, (that we haven't totally alienated..) as well as NCHA followers who would love to see you lose,.... or who have a soft spot for an underbulldog !:D

As for the 2010 version of the NCAA selections/bracket.... "it is what it is" rings a loud bell. As you know I'm relatively new to this way of drawing up a Tournament, and I remain baffled by the process. I seem to recall you were on the side of the Committee and endorsed their criteria and their decisions as they related to Adrian.
But the committee would defend this years' decisions relating to their consideration for the West Region ...& for #3 SNC ..with the same or very similar nonsense that have little to do with getting it right.

Enjoy the game. Wish I could be there to share a pint, some stories....and to offer tissues ;)

If the game was on Saturday I would also be there. As for the game I expect a good game, but I hope that we can get healthy quickly! SNC did deserve a first round bye but we all know that this is how the NCAA sets things. They seem to always leave someone out that deserved to be in the tourney, Adrian the last two years, or make teams play when they shouldn't be. I hope it will be a competitive game but an Adrian win. Go Bulldogs!

This same B.S.? Everyone would like to play SNC, but it would be impossible for them to oblige. SNC is no more afraid of playing Adrian than Hamline or Oswego were. Why don't you tell us how awesome Adrian is again based on their all time record (but not their record against Potsdam, Neumann, Oswego, or Hamline, ok? - just the rest of the MCHA).

I know this is gonna be a good game, and regardless of the outcome you are still a kook.
