Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Maybe Adrian College can work the back-channels to ESPN & Mitch Albom and get another national whining campaign going. Too late for that?

I think they may re-consider the anytime anywhere and we'll pay for it offer after being put in their proper place. A great win by a talented Hamline squad against a decent opponent. They should be happy with their new AQ.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

No question about Hamline. They kicked our *** tonight, plain and simple. There's no explaining away a scoreboard that says 7-3. And they should get the full reward for their wins this weekend, both in the polls and in the regional rankings that will come out later in the season.

But we can't give up 13 goals on 43 shots, even if one of them was an empty-netter. And it wasn't like it was one bad night and one not-so-bad one. They popped 6 and 7 on us. We've got holes to fix.

And my alma mater got thumped tonight, too, not helping matters any. This is not going to be one of my better nights.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily if you haven't already started that.....

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

This is the kind of thing that seems to constantly get overlooked. Especially in this situation, the story will be Adrian losing and not the effort that Hamline gave in winning and that is a shame.

Agreed, this is a case of the #10 ranked team going up against the #4 ranked team, the higher you rank, the bigger the prize. Hamline came through, but their win is no where near as impressive (or depressive ;)) as unranked SUNY Potsdam beating in a shootout, #3 Norwich (officially a tie). Kudos to Hamline, they got it done, as for Adrian, the monkey is off their back, now they have to move on – and learn.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

It looks to me like Adrian got to see the importance of playing defense. I didn't see them play, but it'll be interesting to see how they fix defense or goaltending by either Friday or the postseason.

Sounds like the case.

To be fair, I like the brand of hockey many of the MIAC teams have been playing in the last five years. I think the gap between the MIAC and NCHA has shrunk, and between the top teams there really is no gap. They seem to have really bought into USA Hockey's commitment to building player's skill sets and skating in the last 10 years or so. Almost more of an Eastern school style of play, the top MIAC teams can give real fits to the more traditional "western style" team...

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Congrats to Hamline, they were my pre-season pick to take the MIAC and they indeed look stunning this year. I think they will easily be in the mix of the national tournament and have a shot. It's a long season however, still plenty of hockey to play. Certainly a team to keep your eye on.

And maybe you can find something else to bring back from two years ago to go off about. Or maybe, your mom should have spit out that load that produced you instead of swallowing it, thus sparing us your uselessness.

I think we understand the crux of the insult but conception from oral sex???? Classic!

Maybe if your mom wouldn't have swallowed the load that spawned your retarded *** none of this would have happened.

Yea it was classic, last year. Just because it may have worked every Saturday night at the bars during the late 90's, you know.. in your prime. That doesn't mean it will now. Think up something original Bradley! You friggin' toolbox.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Disaster Piece Theater. Tonight's game is brought to you by the word "undisciplined".

****, I don't know where to start.

We went. We competed. We got beat. And to an extent, now we know.

My thoughts, judging solely by tonight's radio broadcast on WNYO:

Let me get this up top here. It sounded like Oswego was clearly the better team. Congratulations to them. Good luck in conference play and the postseason.

5-2 Oswego plus the sweep last weekend adds up to the worst patch of the road in this program's brief history. The way tonight went was appalling. The lack of discipline absolutely cannot happen again. It sounded like we lost our heads. It sounded like I was listening to Ferris back in the mid-90's with the penalties. The penalty minutes were way down this season, until tonight. I don't mean to single him out, but of all times to do so, Shawn Skelly simply cannot take a 5-CFB when we're down by two goals. Having seen this team for going on 3 years, I'm stunned. We simply have to keep ourselves in check.

As for us....we got some work to do. It sounded like Brad Fogal was stellar, except for the 3rd goal. If he had played like that last weekend, who knows what would have happened, but it's a bit late for that.

I've got about 100 thoughts in my head, and none of them are very organized, so I'll just shut my mouth, step back, and let those of you who were there and saw this game give your thoughts. I think I know where this is headed, but let's have it, all the same.

I think the game if viewed personally or online vs the "homer" play by play version that we were forced to listen to was a little different.

Full marks to Oswego. It sounds like they are a great team. Having said that, listening to the worst play by play guys in the history of hockey, you'd think that their angelic Lakers have never ever been called for a penalty in the past and they have never seen a game which involved body contact. My gawd, they acted like they had never seen a game get chippy. "It takes 2 to tango".

I think this game was closer than the score would appear. If Fogal doesn't cough off that 3rd goal, this thing is tied at 2-2, with either team getting chances in the closing minutes. The 2 empty net goals would not have happened in the 3rd goal is coughed up.

It was a good game period.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

I still think Adrian could be a threat to win a game or possibly two in the NCAA's, but they have to learn that there's more to being a good team than running up the score on teams who simply are not competitive.

I don't want to rub anyone's nose in it, but this is what people who have been following the last three years have been saying.

P.S. Hamline got handled by CSS tonight.

Well, I'm assuming that the broadcasters are college kids, and it was a home team broadcast. In that situation I'm not expecting a neutral play by play. Taking that into account, I thought they did well. Keep in mind that I get to listen to Mickey Redmond to Wings games on FSD, too. :p

55 penalty minutes is not good, even if there were two 10-minute calls, as well as Skelly's 15 minutes for the CFB. That leaves 20 more minutes out there. You can't do that in a game like this, and it surprises me that it happened, given the way we've played.

I would like to see a copy of the game to confirm what I've run my mouth about tonight.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Ha! Tell us about it! Be thankful you only had to listen to the one game:eek:

Oh, try listening to the woman we had last year doing the Marian broadcast. (OH, THAT LITTLE RED LIGHT WENT ON BEHIND THE GLASS. I THINK ADRIAN JUST GOT A POINT?!?!) The only reason I didn't jump out of a window is because I was in someone's basement.

Or the Northland guys after a scrum behind the net (THEY'RE FIGHTING ON THE ICE!! THEY'RE FIGHTING ON THE ICE!! OH MY GOD!! HE PUSHED HIM!!!!!)
