#5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

You guys are looking at the wrong thing, we got Timmay, he's been to eleventy billion frozen fours, how many has MCs coach been to?

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

This is the most interesting quarterfinal series, not just this year, but in many years. You can't count the Vermont v. UNH series last year, because I don't think, going into that series, anybody expected it to be that entertaining (or disappointing).

For one, I am hoping for three physical, high scoring, exhausting games. No injuries, just lots of bruises, so if UNH advances, they play a worn out team :-) Best of luck to both squads.

they re-seed at the garden... only way unh gets maine/merrimack winner is if bc wins and northeastern upsets bu... if bc loses, unh would play umass. if the top three seeds hold serve, they get bu

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

In most cases, I would agree with you...but not in this one...MC is a completely different beast of a team when playing at home...add in the fact that they were w/o Da Costa for the series up in Maine...I throw head to head out b/c we really don't know who has the edge there...with full rosters, MC won 7-1 in North Andover...but the Maine team that played then and the one that is playing now is night and day in comparison...Maine has been hot lately and this should be a great series...I don't think it has anything to do with head-to-head or against the top 3...personally, I feel as though it all comes down to who is playing better right now...and unfortunately, Maine has been the hotter team as of late, although it's hard for me to say that when MC's 3 losses in the last 4 games came w/o Da Costa in the lineup...so, a lot to be told this weekend. Should be a great series and I'm so glad they are putting Sat. Night's game on NESN!!

GO MACK!!!

I just think it's funny that the trash-talk is so dead in this thread that it took a random post by probably the most random UNH poster to get even a glimmer of it going.

The best case I can make for Maine is that 2010-11 looks like 2 seasons. They started and ended strong, but when they ran into injury problems in net, they floundered. Of course, even taking that into account, they were a different team at Alfond than away.

Merrimack is enjoying a dream season, and they're at home, so you have to call them favorites. But there are legit causes for concern. The trajectory is not good, and it isn't always easy to flip a switch and get back to form. Speaking of which, it's hard to miss a substantial number of games and then return to the ice like nothing ever happened. It'll be interesting to see how Da Costa does. Merrimack is still a better team with even a 70-80% SDC than they are without him. There's no downside to his return. The question isn't so much whether he gives them a boost - it's how much.

I dunno. We'll all find out when the puck drops.

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

Furste I gots nutting against Merrimacks. Mais dey overrated. If one a da Big 4 finsih forf wit turty five pointe moste people be saying yeah big deal ou even oof not greate year pour dem, eh. Mais because it Merrimacks et it a new ting people tend to get more excited et ovurrate it. I not saying dey bad, juste overrated. Specially cuz one da teams dey all excited bout beating is even more overrated den dey are, UNHs.

Mais I is saying dat Merrimacks OOC schedule is a joke. What, was d’Home Pour Leetle Wandereurs Pee Wee Selects busy dis year?

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

Merrimack's schedule is 45 out of 58 nationally, anybody who looks at the PWR knows that. If you throw out the record against BU, BC and UNH then you gotta ask, how'd Mack do against Lowell and PC? Whats worse failing against the top 3 or losing to those dogs? Logic swings two ways.

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

He's already back? Shows how much attention I'm paying this year. :o

Still, apples and oranges. PC was already eliminated.

PC makes the playoffs if Maine beats UMass Saturday, they weren't eliminated until the conclusion of that game

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

Little known fact: Merrimack is the most penalized team in the nation. Maine's power play is at 23 percent the last ten games. If Maine's skilled guys show up, thats a possible gamebreaker.

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

Maine is experienced in the post season, their goaltending has been better of late, their top 6 are more skilled. The depth is the only issue I see for Maine in this series. I don't like the way Merrimack slumped into the post season. Really sends a bad message with the way they played lately. Maine in 2.

Little known fact: Maine is the second most penalized team in HE league play. For the season, MC's powerplay % is 20.8% vs 17.6% for ME. I guess MC must not have any skilled players (Cucci with a league-leading 9 powerplay goals, and 3 others with 5 or more; Dimman leads ME with 4). If MC's powerplay guys show up, that could be a game changer.;)

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

so maine beat the tar out of merrimack at their place and merrimack beat the tar out of maine at their place. these games are at mack's place. if the game at Lawler was in feb and the two losses were in january would people be thinking different?

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

Not sure I'm sold on Merrimack once they leave Lawler for the Garden (especially if they draw BC in the semis)... but I'm taking the team with the good goalie, good coach, and home ice in this series. These 3 things are... ya know... kinda important in the QFs.

Couldn't agree with you more. I don't know a single Merrimack fan that wants to draw BC at the Garden. I'm hoping NU knocks off BU.

Re: #5 Maine vs #4Merrimack HEA quarterfinals

Ah the bs she thick here. Listen...itz playoff hawkey. Throw all the useless garbage youve collected about who beat who when and by how much and who wuz coaching and wot they ate for lunch that day and how much curve is in their blades and who hits hard and who takes cheap shots and who blowz who. Its all USELESS ...it will, as it alwayz is, determined by the playrz on the ice.....thats it and thats all and so it is written and so it shall be for all of eternity. But continue carrying on this useless banter of why X will beat Y and yaddah, yaddah bs. :D
