IIRC, Thursdays the price jumps up (especially in the evening) because of people going out of town on Friday for the weekend. It drops on Monday, assuming consumers fill back up on Sundays when they get back in town.
$1.87 at the "substance which may or may not be gas or monkey urine" station along my NoVa commute. $1.91 at the "do not eat our hotdogs" Quik-E-Mart.
You're correct. I've seen multiple news sources who cite studies that, in Minnesota anyway, and also probably holds true elsewhere, the absolute worst time to buy gas is anytime after about 2 p.m. on Thursdays. The price actually tends to drop on Fridays.
I paid $2.54 for premium the other day. I was happy.

Gas shot up 25 cents today.
What the hell man?
Dollars to donuts it was Speedway. They're notorious for pulling this stunt throughout Michigan once a week. Most commonly done around Wednesday afternoon. If you see a jacked up Speedway price, hurry up and find a gas station.
Look at a chart of Michigan's gas prices over time. It looks like a farking hacksaw.

Still hanging around $1.95-$2.09 around western Mpls 'burbs.
Yeah, cause they have their own refinery that makes lower quality gas.
Every brand has their own proprietary additives. Chain stores have been prosecuted for using too much hydrogen dioxide in their own "special blend." Others charge so much you'd think their engine-rejuvenating detergents are distilled from unicorn tears. There are major differences between gas station chains.

I paid 1.809 at Sam's Club in SLP.
