5 dollar gas...are we ready?

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

Hahahah...ha...

Wait, what?

In all seriousness - does humidity matter when it's 110+? :)
Hell yeah. Daughter plays softball, had temp at 126 in Mesquite Nevada a couple of years ago in June, hot but used to it. Tucson AZ in July during the wet season at 104 was unbearable.

Missed this, but yes it does. When I was in Vegas, it was 90+/dry. Wore dress shirt/khakis, no problem. A few years later, 102~/high humidity (in MN) playing a softball tourney. Sleeveless shirt, shorts, still couldn't cool down whatsoever. Completely miserable all day. Pure hell.

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

The price dropped because of OPEC not because of any GOP plan or he NoDak oil. You guys are grasping...

But why did OPEC suddenly allow the price to drop after so many years of holding fast? If you don't think fracking had anything to do with it you're the one grasping. And fracking is not just happening in NoDak.

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

I thought oil went down due to Americans becoming smarter and not using as much. Car pooling, biking, public transit, hybrid vehicles.

Ok, no that's not it. Nice dream tho.
:D

OK that was pretty good.

Although, aren't we using less fuel now than 30 years ago? I thought I remembered hearing that recently.

It wouldn't be because the largest users of oil finally told the "oil monopoly" to get bent and started producing more oil themselves, would it? Russia, China, and the US/Canada.

Purple = Major oil producers not involved in OPEC
Green/Raspberry= North American oil production
Blue = OPEC

Also, of the OPEC nations, there has been a lot of unrest in the regions which probably has lead to leadership changes:
Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Qatar, Libya, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Nigeria, Ecuador, and Angola.

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

European demand for oil is down, weaker than expected as they try to stave off a forecasted recession, and US demand for oil is stable but down slightly from projected use. Chinese demand for oil has ebbed somewhat in the last year from where it was six years ago. Add to all of this, there's a glut of crude oil hitting the market. Supply is up and demand is down, what else do we expect to happen to the price/barrel?

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

The fracking addition to the pool is so freaking minor it has virtually nothing to do with the drop.

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

Gas shot up 25 cents today.

What the hell man?

IIRC, Thursdays the price jumps up (especially in the evening) because of people going out of town on Friday for the weekend. It drops on Monday, assuming consumers fill back up on Sundays when they get back in town.

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

I didn't see that at the place I stop at on the way home. It was 1.82 yesterday when I drove by at about 4:30. I didn't pay attention to what it was this morning.

The Holiday by my place was $1.91 in the morning, and $2.09 on the way home from work.

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

Put 3/8ths of a tank of gas in, grabbed a 20 oz. bottle Dew, and $5 of lottery tix* ... and got change back from a $20!

*When it's $270 million, you bet.

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

Still over $2 here in Bar Harbor, ME. Filled up at $2.17 yesterday.

I am enjoying the low propane prices since I'm heating two houses right now (house building which will be done next month, and a winter rental). I live in a rural area with no access to natural gas
