2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Priceless clearly wins that debate. However, Grinxxxx was right when he said the whole idea of filing suit against the president is cowardly stupidity; if something criminal is going on, impeach. If not illegal but you don't like it, vote against him. A lawsuit feels petty and mean and yes, cowardly... but we've come to expect no more. It's also interesting to note that everyone on here seems to think that the worth of broad executive orders can be judged solely by the letter after the issuer's name, while in the same breath complaining about the other side's partisanship. yeesh.

Impeachment would never get the 67 votes to convict - not in this $enate or the next $enate. I just want the Executive Branch to acknowledge that law making and policy writing is the function of the Legislative Branch while the Executive enforces the laws (that they agree with).

If this lawsuit will curb the Executive Branch from intruding into the Legislative Branch, then fine. If it does not, then maybe it will take the drastic approach.

On the Other Hand, Andrew Johnson violated the Tenure of Office Act and got away with it.

You're probably on the right track. I like to have opinions but I'm too lazy to learn the actual facts of the matter or how extreme the orders have been. Lazy opinions are more fun.
Just give me a call when it's time to take up arms, I'm here for you if I'm not fishing that day.

I don't see the problem with letting affected people sue, not the Congress. So going back to Bush, he had asserted certain powers to detain Americans suspected of terrorism. Those people IIRC sued him and SCOTUS said no. That's not an impeachable offense because a ruling went against him.

Likewise, if Obama asserts the power to allow illegals to stay longer, or delay an ACA deadline, let someone affected by that ruling (say a school system that has to educate the illegals, etc) sue him for it. Boner just looks like a drunk, sobbing idiot. What does he think is going to happen when this gets tossed because he has no standing to bring the suit? That's right, an impeachment drive, which he'll be as powerless to stop as he was a govt shutdown. Ted Cruz runs the House, not The Impotent Boner.

Meanwhile, the specter of a Palin remake stalks our land.

Here is the full article.

Are any of her kids "ret*rds" (a designation IIRC which you initially defended then subsequently criticized)?

Is she organizing any mass shootings? Well then, she's Palin Lite. Certainly close enough to get the ladies of the chorale huddling under their beds. But I insist on the real thing.

Ladies, you're not looking for any advice from me, but collectively your repeated references to "Boner" have moved you firmly into Beavis and Butthead territory.

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

This week in Republicanism.
But never have I met any candidate quite as frightening or fact-averse as Louisiana state Rep. Lenar Whitney, 55, who visited my office last Wednesday. It’s tough to decide which party’s worst nightmare she would be.

Whitney has only raised $123,000 to date (fourth in the GOP field), but she has sought to boost her profile and appeal to conservative donors with a slickly made YouTube video entitled “GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX” (84,000 views so far). In the video, Whitney gleefully and confidently asserts that the theory of global warming is the “greatest deception in the history of mankind” and that “any 10-year-old” can disprove it with a simple household thermometer.

Whitney’s brand of rhetoric obviously resonates with some very conservative Louisiana voters who view President Obama and the Environmental Protection Agency as big-city elitists directly attacking the state’s energy industry and their own way of life. And she would hardly be the first “climate denier” elected to Congress. But it’s not unreasonable to expect candidates to explain how they arrived at their positions, and when I pressed Whitney repeatedly for the source of her claim that the earth is getting colder, she froze and was unable to cite a single scientist, journal or news source to back up her beliefs.

To change the subject, I asked whether she believed Obama was born in the United States. When she replied that it was a matter of some controversy, her two campaign consultants quickly whisked her out of the room, accusing me of conducting a “Palin-style interview.”

Keep it up GOP. Keep it up.

Fringe candidate. Democrats have them too, you know.

No, you don't understand, the Dems are perfect. They even fart rainbows.

About the only thing Dems have going for them is that they aren't Republicans - although to be fair, that's a pretty huge difference.

Beyond that, they suck too.
