Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

My favorite part about Itch is when he says Republicans will just force a government shutdown if they don't get what they want.

Um....I don't think that's worked out well for you guys in previous tries.... :D

But, why not do it right before election day in 2016! I'm sure all those Goopers running in Hillary states (Johnson, Ayotte, Toomey, Kirk, Rubio, etc) are going to be thrilled...;)

That's the thing. Just as the map favors Republicans in 2014, it favors the Democrats in 2016. Right now Congress is split so the stench gets parceled out equally. But if the GOP owns both chambers, then that Congressional favorability rating, which is currently below head lice, all gets associated with them. If Congress brings forth poison bills that Obama has to veto, the blame will be at best 50/50 to the GOP and Obama. And Obama aint runnin in 2016.

Given that a Dem Senate with a couple seat majority is effectively roadblocked by the GOP minority anyway, the DCCC and DSCC are probably secretly rooting for a GOP takeover. Then 2016 becomes a Fix Congress! campaign, which is very good box office.

Kepler, you're a smart guy. But thinking that blame will be mostly on the Rs if they take control is a bit silly.

On a personal level, I really hope they don't do that. It'll make 2016 up here completely unbearable. Granted, it's going to be unbearable anyway, but it'd be worse if that happened.

It can't be. They gerrymandered all their districts into perfectly engineered echo chambers. Obama will get the blame when it's all said and done. Perry in 2016.

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

AK primary results:

Dan Sullivan knocks off Teabagger Joe Miller in the GOP primary for US Senator. Will face incumbent Democrat Mark Begich in the general in November.

Incumbent Don Young easily takes the Republican primary for US Representative. Will face Democrat "Run Forrest Run" Forrest Dunbar in the general. (No, really, that's his campaign sign.)

Incumbent Sean Parnell wins his primary for governor, will face Democrat Byron Mallott.

Proposal 1 narrowly defeated, existing oil tax system remains in place.

Yeah, you already have it 5-4 but you guys need it at least 7-3 to completely throw the Constitution away.
7-3? What, is a new Republican president going to add a seat? Only time I recall anyone tried that is FDR, and it didn't fly. You really are part of the Paranoid Chamber.

That's a lot of sloganeering jammed into just twenty-seven words. Paranoia Chamber at work here!

The Governor race also has an Independent running in Bill Walker with plenty of support.
