2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

I love how Grover still thinks there's a difference between the two major parties, because there isn't. They both want the same goals of absolute power. To support one over the other is like saying one door to the slaughterhouse is better than the other. Regardless of door, you go in living and come out dead.

I'll admit the difference is small but there is most certainly a difference. If you can't tell the difference between Texas and Minnesota for example then your powers of observation are clearly lacking.

Looking at a map, one's in the north, and one's in the south. I'd say my power of observation is quite good.

Flaggy, that's like you claiming you're some sort of stud because you can score with yourself and that counts just as much as hooking up with a woman. :D Really, there's a tremendous difference between the two parties which is why Dems have outvoted Republicans in 5 out of the last 6 Presidential elections. People don't like you guys, plain and simple...

Both have their wars. Dems accuse the GOP of a War on Women
the GOP accuses the Dems of a War on the Constitution.

In terms of vote -- By county the GOP wins. By major population centers, the Dems win. Cities tend to vote D. Rural areas tend to vote GOP.

Anyway you slice it, we're a very divided country. And it's a vision of how much you want the federal government to do for you. I prefer the minimum. Others want a lot more. Right now, it appears the do it all for me government folks vote more than the less is more government folks.

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

To me its more like Republican/conservative/teaparty ideas sound great in theory, but when people realize the practical application of them they run for the hills.

Great example are these cuts in food stamps and unemployment benefits. Sounds great in theory, bunch of d@mn moochers! I'm guessing a large amount people in Appalachia are collecting one or both of these programs, and they just voted to screw themselves. In an urban setting if you're poor you have a bit more access to resources than a rural one. That means these faithful Republican voters in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia and Kentucky - solid right wing states to the core, are seeing the practical application of their political theory. Good for them, I now expect them to all go out and get high paying jobs!

SOTU is only interesting to hardcore political junkies. Non-event. But, sounds like Obama is once again planning to abuse executive orders to sidetrack having Congress play a role on various issues.

Minimum wage should be 50 bucks/hr. I know he can do it, just push it thru

As far as I know the increase will only put it back in line with inflation. In other words no real raise in minimum wage since Reagan. But, whatever, logic was removed from any discussion long ago.

As for the fascist dictator. Bob will love my source.

All told, Obama has averaged fewer executive orders, per year, than any president in the last 125 years.

Heeeeeeeeeeelarious.

I wonder why they only show the last 125 years. Perhaps because the fascist dictator Lincoln can't possibly be seen in a scornful eye?

Hey, who doesn't want a pay raise? All he has to do is crank up the printing presses at the Treasury a little faster, again.

Don't believe in the War on Women?

This is from the last two weeks.

* Republicans have gone after Texas gubernatorial hopeful Wendy Davis (D) over the details of her personal family history. One Texas Republican eventually conceded, “If this involved a man running for office, none of this would ever come up.”

* Mike Huckabee delivered a bizarre speech to the RNC in which he argued that Democrats believe women require government mandated contraception access because women can’t control their libidos.

* Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) argued Hillary Clinton can be criticized for Bill Clinton’s Lewinsky affair 19 years ago because “sometimes it’s hard to separate one from the other.”

* Republican state policymakers continue to push new restrictions on women’s reproductive rights, including a proposed 30-day waiting period in Louisiana.

* Sean Hannity suggested yesterday the creation of an “Adopt-A-Woman Birth Control Program” as an alternative to guaranteeing contraception access in federal health care law.

* Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.) wrote a book in which he argued wives should “voluntarily submit” to their husbands.

* Republican Senate hopeful Ken Buck in Colorado explained his opposition to abortion rights by comparing pregnancy to cancer, which is why he doesn’t think a woman should “be in control of her body.”

* Republican congressional hopeful Dick Black in Virginia opposes making spousal rape a crime and has called military rape “as predictable as human nature.”

And the best part?

Finally, note that the AP reported yesterday that Republican leaders are “summoning contenders – especially those who seem inexperienced, unpredictable or inclined to provocative opinions – to first-of-a-kind training at the GOP’s Senate campaign headquarters to learn, in part, what not to say” about women’s issues.

Drat that First Amendment. As to Wendy Davis: exposing that lying b*tch is a service to Texas voters. Every woman deserves a sugar daddy who can afford to send her to Harvard Law while he takes care of the kids, back in Texas, eh? Not exactly what most people have in mind when they talk about "pluck," is it?

Heh heh heh Opie. The First Amendment ain't gonna save you from an angry woman. Any married man can tell you that! :D While the War on Women may be cute from a conservatives prospective, it doesn't make a ton of sense politically when your public position is that women have less rights and should be forced to have their rapists offspring amongst other Talibanesque proposals your side likes to embrace. Women do make up the majority of voters for better or for worse, and as I'm sure you're well aware of, we ain't making any new crabby old white guys in this country.

The response of hysterical libtards to the revelation that Ms. Davis isn't exactly what she claims to be has been amusing. Every woman deserves a sugar daddy who can afford to send her to Harvard Law while he takes care of the kids, back in Texas, eh? What? You mean my First Amendment right to post about the War On Women? Damm tooting, Skippy.

So long as we're clear: expressing points of view with which you disagree constitutes a "war."

BTW, I assume you're planning to take advantage of that new "MSNBC Gold Plan," where, for 29.95 a month, your favorite "personality" will come to your house and deliver the "news" personally. It's a way to generate a revenue stream for a "network" whose audience is comparable to the average college radio station. I think I'd chose Al Sharpton, if he brought along his own "Skillets."

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

So long as we're clear: expressing points of view with which you disagree constitutes a "war."

In an interview with KTVI-TV on Sunday, the GOP Senate nominee was asked if he supported abortion in the case of rape.

"From what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," said Akin said of pregnancy caused by rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist."

So, that's a point of view? Or just plain old ****ing nuts? I'm going with the latter.
