2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

It will be a chip implanted in our bodies. It will also feed biometric data back to your employer and insurer, making sure you're living the lifestyle they want you to live :). Don't laugh, I was having lunch with my employer's CFO last month, and he brought up the idea as a possible future solution to the rising costs of insurance.
If it ever came to that, I'd expat it out of here so fast. Even though I might not agree with their government on a great many things, Canada would become a very appealing land very fast. I would not abide being tracked like that.

I believe Stallone's character put it very succinctly: "Why don't you just shove a leash up my ***?"

What makes you think Canada won't also have national ID chips. You know, for safety.

I remember after Adam Walsh was killed there was a huge frenzy among parents to fingerprint their kids for "safety" in case they were ever abducted. I'm still waiting for the first news story of a child being rescued because law enforcement found their fingerprints. The government has a nice database though.

Not to mention, the videos created to help fight abduction.

To be fair, those were slightly more useful than telling children to hide from nuclear bombs under their desk.

What else were you going to tell them? "If a nucular bomb comes at you, put your head between your legs and kiss your *** goodbye."

BTW, it was Eisenhower who started use of the term "nucular".

While they didn't say so publicly, law enforcement encouraged the fingerprinting of kids as a way of identifying the body. The fingerprints served no other purpose. And certainly didn't protect children from anything. This effort came before current DNA technology had been developed.

It might be interesting to learn how many kids were fingerprinted by parents who didn't grasp the reality of the situation. And what became of those prints.

I can't speak to what departments across the nation did, but I know my hometown's police discarded them after a certain number of years. The reason I know this is A) I knew a man on the force, and B) I had to get reprinted as part of an application process for (then) NASD licenses, and that officer said the same thing.

That would be my guess. I've been printed twice: by the gas company in Chicago for a summer job and by the AF. I'm confident Uncle Sugar still has my prints on file. Doubtful the gas company gives a shiat.

That, and I am against the whole 3 seashells thing.

Been fingerprinted twice (once as a kid...can't remember what for), and once for pre-employment with the FAA. Not sure what happened to the first, but the second set is currently in the FBI database.

In their song "Hard Drivin' Man," the J. Geils Band referred to Canada as "old 51." "...I left my gal in old 51 and hope my rig don't stall." It's possible Peter Wolf may have been referring to something other than a truck.
