2026 Winter Olympics

There's a monobob now!? Sure why not. They should do an event where they take one ride with each 1 2 and 4 and the lowest combined total wins. Really make it a team effort.

Too much condensed into a short window. I focus on hockey, curling, long track speed skating, bobsled and downhill skiing and it's juts too much even for just those 10 for both genders.
Add short track speed skating too for me. The rest just tell me who wins. I’m also finding that I enjoy luge, skeleton and cross country skiiing/biathlon. But as you said, it’s just too much

The Olympics is a short tournament, so Abbey Murphy has to take advantage of every opportunity to introduce herself to the penalty box attendant. She's just being polite.
The full Abbey Murphy experience: a terrific shot for the goal, and minutes later the penalty.

The competition is pathetic…. Doesn’t bode well for the women’s game let alone PWHL expansion to 12 teams.
The seats may fill but the product will suffer greatly.
I don't see pathetic opponents, I see a dominate Team USA and they dominate for reasons that are too many to list.

You can only remain friendly with the staff in the penalty box if you visit them regularly.

As for Sweden, I thought that the players that they had played well.

Played to the best of their abilities yes.
Played to have ever a chance of winning…. No.
The International game is not growing in a competitive nature.
I know “gotta start somewhere” but we are WAAAY beyond “Starting somewhere”
Hard for countries to justify financial support and have very little chance of competing.

Poulin on hat trick watch in this semi final vs the Swiss.

Probably no one wants to hear that the Swiss have 3 shots late in the 2nd.

Watts Poulin and Fillier is a fun line. The only line?

I don't agree with BuckyB on PWHL expansion -- I think they can handle two more teams with the talent available. But that would be it for me for a while.

However, I do agree with this post. I think the international competition has actually gotten worse outside of North America. Heck, Finland U18 got relagated! And their senior team couldn't beat a team from Group B. And that Group B team, Sweden, went from getting to a gold medal game a few Olympics ago to Group B. And no, it's not because other countries have gotten better. It's because hockey loving countries aren't doing dip for their women's programs. Slovakia has one (super) great hockey player and she comes to America as a teenager to play.

Simms is the reason I have a hard time taking Badger fans' sanctimony over Murphy seriously.
2022-23: Murphy leads the WCHA in penalty minutes, with 59 minutes; Simms 18th, with 25 minutes ( while playing two more games)

2023-24: Murphy leads the WCHA in penalty minutes, with 118 minutes (no, that is not a typo); Simms 20th, with 24 minutes

2024-25: Murphy leads the WCHA in penalty minutes, with 87 minutes; Simms doesn't make the list on the WCHA web page of the top 30, with 18 minutes accrued.

So far in 2025-26. Murphy had been leading the WCHA, but has been passed by three other players (who have each played 4-to-6 more games). Murphy is at 57 minutes, those others at 60 and 59. Simms is again not in the top 30, She has accrued 18 minutes so far.

In 2023-24 and again in 2024-25, Murphy had more penalty minutes that season than Simms has had during her entire career.
