JFC. what a POS.A US figure skater being delayed because of JD Vance's motorcade and security causing her to miss her entire pre-routine and *almost* miss her performance, and somehow getting Silver is the *perfect* summary of the current state of the United States.
Also, who the fuck brings a plane filled with food, like Chef Boyardee, with them to *Italy*?!?! Fuck JD Vance.
I wondered about that too, a friend who is a competitive skier said no. Vonn qualified for the team weeks before she blew out her ACL. The ski team doesn’t have alternates, so if she would have dropped out, no one else was stepping in. You qualify for the US team by your points in international competition. So even before the Olympics you are qualifying against the world, not just US skiers. It’s why there’s no downhill skiers from Jamaica, they could be the best skier in all of Jamaica but they have no world points. Should Vonn have skied at all? Thats a different question, but she didn’t cause another skier to miss out.
Vonn qualified for the team in December, she blew out her knee in late January.
Both on the team have been lights out. Record shooting percentage through all of the qualifiers.US guaranteed another curling medal after defeating Italy in the semifinals of the Mixed Doubles.
They are bitching because they don't know how to skate. For all the bitching the north American media made about the hockey venue, every bit of feedback has been that it's a standard European venue that is designed as a concert venue but it's hosting a hockey tournament and doing that quite well.
Yeah, the players have been mostly unconcerned throughout the whole saga. They are bitching because they don't know how to skate.
That was a great match. Quite the nail biter.US guaranteed another curling medal after defeating Italy in the semifinals of the Mixed Doubles.
Just happened again- the person *barely* in 2nd place lost 1.7 seconds to the leader because a big mistake at the race start. She was clearly in the running for gold, and now way out of the podium.Man, it's crazy how unforgiving the sliding sports are. Watching luge, and a mistake at the start always ends up being .75 down by the end. And then another slider had a great run going, fastest going into the middle, and a small mistake there ended up a little over .3 back. When you rely on gravity, and being perfect removes less than not- brutal.
And it ends with a really dominant run by a German slider- almost a second gap to 2nd.Just happened again- the person *barely* in 2nd place lost 1.7 seconds to the leader because a big mistake at the race start. She was clearly in the running for gold, and now way out of the podium.
