2026 Winter Olympics: Thread Title Under Construction

Jenner and O'Neil trying to save things, but other than Spooner they are the only Canadian players whose heads aren't lodged snugly right now.

A US figure skater being delayed because of JD Vance's motorcade and security causing her to miss her entire pre-routine and *almost* miss her performance, and somehow getting Silver is the *perfect* summary of the current state of the United States.

Also, who the fuck brings a plane filled with food, like Chef Boyardee, with them to *Italy*?!?! Fuck JD Vance.
I'm sure having to carry his couch around with him caused further delay.

that call was suspect

She collects soft calls like she has photos of the refs on Epstein island.

At some point a Canadian player is going to think "welp, since I'm going to get whistled as if I crosschecked her head so hard it flew into the stands anyway, ..."

They just don’t call as much of it. She’s been hit with an unsportsmanlike here and there too.

To be clear though I don’t think that particular call was her fault. She got a free arm around her and it didn’t seem crazy that she’d spin. I think those calls are soft, but it is a soft call made in the NHL nearly every game.

Apparently faking being tripped by doing a full-on cartwheel only works if you are Abby. Another US player tried it and the ref gave her a look like "don't do that again."

CBC also culture washes their shit by larding on the identity caring cringe. Nice to see the US is not exceptional in its pathologies.

Meh. I would admire her much more if she would step aside and let an alternate have a shot. At this point, she is risking whatever is left of her knee that has already been repaired at least 2-3 times. That isn't "bad ass", it's more like "dumbass", not to mention arrogant and egotistical (but since when was that ever a problem for her?)

And yes, I would say the same thing if she had a twig and berries. I didn't care for Bode Miller either, but at least she has the medals to back it up, I suppose.

I always preferred Super G anyway - almost the same speed, but a shorter and much more intense event.
i know people want to shit on her right now, but i believe there is no one that could have taken her place. No one else had enough World Cup points.

Doesn't Canada generally own US in medal rounds, this game doesn't mean shit
That's what I was wondering.... Will it really matter if Canada is the two seed going into the final round? Doesn't seem like it would.

But in terms of women's hockey in general, the IOC needs to get more universities to play women's hockey so that more world wide players can come up? Maybe? I've heard a handful of non Canadian or US women being from some NCAA team.... More is better for the rest of the world.

she gets called plenty

unlike many goons, she is supremely talented and fun to watch. You want to see goons, you watch Muzzeral's buckeyes when things don't go their way

IIHF needs to get more countries invested in the women’s game. Really only the US, Canada and Sweden are investing at this point with the PWHL and SDHL.
