2025 Bracketology: The Road to Utica!

Now that the seedings are official, why don't #2 HC and #3 UU meet in the first semi?
Utica was the 4 seed and SNC was the 5 so the winner of that game plays the #1 seed Curry.

Geneseo was the No. 6 seed and upset the No. 3 seed Aurora. Geneseo doesn't assume the No. 3 seed because they won and they don't reseed the tournament so the winner of the 3/6 matchup plays the winner of the 2/7 matchup.

DIII Hockey News has a very comprehensive article on the process HERE
The only thing Chris fails to mention is it's not just attendance capacity that is factored in. Another HUGE drawback to Hobart hosting a championship of this magnitude is the lack of four suitable locker rooms. Hobart obviously has one and William Smith as well that another team could use and then they have the visiting team room on the main entrance side of the rink. That's only three though. The fourth locker room is in the lobby and shares a bathroom with the general public. Not suitable at all to place a team in that situation for the final four championship.

Hobart barely made it work for the league final four. It's unfortunately just not suitable for a NCAA championship final four event. And yes, Endicott albeit also a bit questionable facility wise, was more suitable.

I have my Friday tickets, now the Statesmen just have to win! Geneseo looks like an extremely strong offense and will test our D3 leading Defense. I hope our offense converts their shots at a higher percentage than they have in the last two weeks. So Pumped! The sight lines better be good;)

The NCAA is an academic adjacent organization. In my 35+ years in academia I have learned that there is (almost) no rule that can not be overridden by the right signature on the right form.

Glad that you scored! Looking forward to reading your takes on the games.

So, was the seating assigned, or was it GA? (Been GA for all the womens' games I've seen there... As in, free. ;))

Did the local demand seem robust, or do you expect that HC will release some tickets?

(The competition among Utica fans will be dog-eat-dog at 1000 on Wednesday either way, no doubt...)

Utica will be the visiting team on Friday. Curry will have last change.

Assigned seat in what I believe is the assigned Hobart section

I heard the sightlines in Nexus are great.

I did a self tour of the Nexus Center, but didn't really go into the stands.

No obstructed views that I've noticed, but you'd expect that much in such a small arena.

We always stand, which is my preference anyway, and you can't beat the sightlines from up there.

(You going? Maybe have a press pass?)

Just asking, BTW, I'm not planning to look you up lol.

LOL

Yeah, covering the event for USCHO.

Just now saw that there will be SRO tickets available for $10 a pop. I assume that means that the capacity will be 1,600.

OK. Wonder if their server will crash on Wednesday?
Hobart has pretty much absorbed the allotted tickets, I doubt there will be any flipped back into the general pool for tomorrow. I would think Geneseo will need to dip into the open seating to satisfy their wave of buses at $5. It will be crazy for the 7pm game demand with Utica and the system might crash😂

I'm slightly confused the nexus center is the permanent rink for the Utica women's hockey team. It's literally called the Utica University nexus center. Is that not a campus site?? When they say campus site does it explicitly say it has to be the men's team site?? It makes perfect sense to me why they choose it over the ira.

HWS alumni well organized with Friday pregame at the Saranac Brewery owned by Hobart grad.

So technically it's only called the UU Nexus Center because they bought the naming rights, but also yes the women's team plays there full time

Technically, its not the home men's rink, and that's what the rules state. But they decided to stretch the rules. After all, it is the home men's "complex." :)

Organizationally speaking, I'm sure Utica will do a great job. The facility overall is certainly top notch. The crowd may be smaller, and a bit packed in and rowdy, but from everything I've heard, it's great sightlines. And apparently the media working area might actually be better than the Aud. :ROFLMAO:
