Hug someone you care about...
So there was an article in the New York Times a few days ago about megadoners trying to get Biden to drop out...I can't read it because I canceled my sub but quotes from it are all over the place since AOC went public. The New Republic did a story on the article with some of the quotes and names...
Funny coincidence a couple of days later Brown, one of the most vulnerable, then comes out with one of the most blatantly mealy-mouthed statements ever. (notice he never says any of his voters said they want Biden out...he just wants us to get back to the issues by...continuing to not talk about the issues and forcing Biden out. Phuck you Sherrod)
Now who is WME you ask? Well WME is the old William Morris agency, that is now William Morris Endeavor or just Endeavor. (WME-IMG) WME is co-chaired by Ari Emanuel. (Rahm's brother who is also cutting off funding if I read right) Strickler retired a while ago but is obviously still wealthy. Ari Emanuel is one of the most powerful people in entertainment. If Endeavor sounds familiar to some of you its because they made news when they merged WWE and UFC into TKO. Which might seem like it is not very relevant until you realize that Netflix is also cutting off funding from Biden supporters and Netflix just paid billions for the rights to show Monday Night Raw. (Dana White and former WWE Owner Linda McMahon spoke at the RNC as did of course Hulk Hogan) NBC has the US Distribution rights of the WWE Network (its on Peacock) and NBC has been one of Biden's biggest critics from Day 1.
Now I realize that sounds like I went down a bit of a rabbithole so I will step back and list just some of the people who WME represents (not all, that would take way too long) and see if there is anything we notice:
Rachel Maddow (MSNBC)
Alex Wagner (MSNBC)
Joe Scarborough (MSNBC)
Mika Brzezinski (MSNBC)
Stephanie Ruhle (MSNBC)
Lawrence O'Donnell (MSNBC)
Joy Ann Reid (MSNBC)
Joe Kernon (CNBC)
(these people are all represented by the same agent outside of Maddow who is repped by Emanuel, or at least were as of 2022)
It is joked that that one agent controls like 45 hours of MSNBC programming alone.
Besides the fact that they all work for NBC, they are some of the most outspoken "Biden Should Step Aside" people in the media outside of O'Donnell and Reid who have flipped their opinions for various reasons. (Reid because the CBC told her what was happening) CNN anchors tend to be represented by UTA outside of Kaitlyn Collins who is pretty wishy washy on all of this but mostly tows the CNN Anti-Biden Line. Joe and Mika are much softer on Biden than most...but they traffic in the same BS. Their being forced off the air after the shooting has shifted them a bit though as they are now ticked at NBC brass. And in fairness, Symone Sanders is also repped by WME and she calls it pretty straight.
Also, Steve Schmidt started a new SuperPac (edit to add: He came out denying his involvement...which since he is always wrong means he is the head of it
) that apparently is also involved with (and boy does this make me mad) Dean Phillips called PassTheTorch. They want a new nominee. They just bought ads during Morning Joe (Biden's favorite) calling on him to step aside. They have also botted up Social Media...
The only thing worse than an undercover coup is one where the people behind it are so powerful they do it in broad daylight. These people are so cocky they admit openly what they are doing. They don't care about us or even the country, they care about leveraging their influence. And it is working. I mean it is not a coincidence that Hollywood agents and Moguls cut off their funding and a bunch of California based Dems flip overnight (Schiff, Lofgren, Pelosi) and now back an open process or redoing the primaries which is definitely not legal, is completely un-democratic and is guaranteed to kill the party and the country. They flood the airwaves (much of which they have direct access to) with propaganda and get their friends to amplify it. I highly doubt it is a coincidence that a billionaire threatens to not fund vulnerable races and freaked out Senators all of a sudden think Biden can't win...and have no idea how to move forward with it. The Congressional Black Caucus called it, AOC exposed it...and it is up to us to see it for what it is.
We. Are. Being. Played.
The only people who want Biden out are Rich White People. Every other part of the tent has backed him. CBC, Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Progressives...and they keep saying it they never waver.
What's sad is, I am not a paranoid person by nature...and yet all of this makes me feel like:
The New York Times reports that several of the richest contributors to Democrats around the country are trying to use their money to leverage support against Biden staying in the race.
“If you don’t publicly call for Biden to step aside, you are not getting a dime from me,” said Tom Strickler, the founder of Hollywood talent agency WME, to New Mexico Senator Martin Heinrich’s team last Thursday. Strickler said he had been planning to financially support seven of the most vulnerable Democratic senators, but would not be doing so because they still backed Biden’s candidacy.
“It’s a message that I’ve encouraged my friends to send as well,” Strickler said. “If you back Biden, you will lose our support. Over and out.”
Strickler is one of the few donors willing to oppose Biden publicly, including Hollywood banker Joe Ravitch. Other high-profile Democratic donors, including Henry Laufer, Marilyn Simmons, and Haim Saban all wouldn’t comment to the Times.
According to the Times, many of these donors, while committed to replacing Biden, aren’t sure about the best way to do so. While Strickler is holding back on donations, others are leery about bringing on a backlash against wealthy elites. They also aren’t sure who to reach out to in Biden’s inner circle, and whether money is even the best means of persuasion.
