2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

Man, Biden looked old. But he brought it, mostly, and that was an incredible sendoff. I think the chants really got to him, which was really cool to see.
  • Raskin was cheated by the teleprompter.
  • Warnock is one hell of an orator.
  • Ugh Hillary.
  • The abortion stories were really tough to watch, and important and well done.
  • I know he wasn't the first to say it by Clyburn's "Project 2025 is Jim Crow 2.0" was perfect.

The problem is the GOP played themselves. For decades the Democrats were falsely painted as "they're coming for your guns!" "Communist socialism!" "High taxes on poor people!" all while the Dems would rightfully point out "they're purposely breaking the system to prove their point," or "they're hypocritical in claiming their 1% tax cut benefits the poor," or "they're coming for Roe."

.... and then the GOP actually took Roe away.

And this has conservatives ****ting themselves because they know they did it, so they're afraid the Dems are going to return the volley. They're afraid that this fantasy land they painted the Dems of living it was accidentally manifested into happening because they did it to themselves.



Throttle down, full send, this needs to be a big blue wave this November.

I take it back...all fact checking is now broken! The Times and WaPo are embarrassing themselves this morning...

I think it's time to cancel my WaPo sub. They had been marginally better than the NYT but last night pushed me over the edge. It's just trumpy slop now.

I canceled mine when Biden stepped aside. I also stopped playing all NYTimes games because that is how they are making money these days.

I stopped when Wordle got bought and my streak ended.

I think I've clicked four or five NYT links since 2021. I won't subscribe to wirecutter. I won't subscribe to the recipes. They aren't getting a dime from me.

But yeah, the WaPo was somewhere around replacement value because they had good write ups on the national stories. I think I'm just going to get a digital sub to the Strib instead.

edit: I should clarify. My anti Times crusade has nothing to do with wordle. That's just why I stopped playing the games lol

WaPo Fact Check: we don't know if he said those exact words, he may have only been "strongly implying" it would be helpful to the Harris Campaign so we are going to call it false and misleading.

Teamsters President was telling the media he’s been “ghosted” by the DNC. Duh, you cozied up to Dump you idiot. Way to pizz away all the goodwill you had built up. They supposedly have a meeting with Harris next month but I doubt it’ll be productive unless he basically crawls back. The Teamsters Black National Caucus is already throwing him under the bus.

As for Teamster President...I get the trying to live troll the RNC a bit but the second it becomes clear you made yourself look like a fool you then endorse Harris to save face. To a lot of people he looks like a corrupt Hoffa style boss out to make himself and his "people" look better at the cost of membership.

Meanwhile UAW looks amazing not just because they endorsed but because they let membership decide.
 
Did you guys watch the Joe Biden video? OMG I got caught peeling onions....so well done.

I did not watch his speech live as it was on so late. Now I wish I had watched it. I saw bits and pieces of Tony Goldwyn as the "host" for the night. He was really good. Every tweet I saw of him called him the actor from Scandal. I know he played the President on that show but NBC and Dick Wolf are probably a tad annoyed given he is currently on Law & Order as the new DA.
