Back from Santa Fe. She has now put up with me for 25 years, and as my formal chattel for 20.
I did a fair amount of hope scrolling because I got altitude sickness out there because I am old and out of shape, and spent a lot of time in bed. From what I have seen:
Odds favorites are 1. Shapiro, 2. Kelly, 3. Walz, 4. the field
Shapiro:
pros: great debater, will cut you with a smile, aggressive but likeable, >60% favorability in PA
cons: goes well out of his way to be Bibi's butt boy, office had to settle a sexual harassment case
Kelly:
pros: another great debater, very frank, gravitas, deeply sincere, border cred, whiter than white, astronauts are cool
cons: are there any? Would be first bald VP. Is that even a con?
Walz:
pros and cons: neither, really; very likeable but I don't know why he's still in consideration
Of the others I personally don't see much upside. Pete gets you less of everything positive you get with Shapiro so I guess if you dream of Shapiro without the overt joy at genocide then OK. Bashear is that stupid old dream of chasing Dixie, no, f-ck them. Pritzker would be the worst VP pick on a major ticket this time and think about that bar.
My bet with money: Shapiro. My desire, both to see us more likely to win and to be a better nation: Kelly.
As if I even need to add as the Cafe resident bomb-throwing comsymp: if it is Shapiro then he is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life and I applaud her brilliant choice.
