2024 Election Thread

Everyone is so hopeful that they'll demo out, but the more I think about it the more I don't think that will happen for decades and decades. Maybe 50+ years. They've still got hard supermajorities in the SEC and most of the Midwest. 2020 saw them get the second highest vote for a presidential candidate ever, only behind Biden. and millennials and GenX both outnumber boomers now. So even if you factor that in, there's a huge swath of younger America that still votes R.

Just looked up the numbers. Dems hold a 1-point lead with 45-64, a 7-point lead for 30-44, and it's finally the 18-29 demo where Dems hold a 27-point lead.

So like I said, this turd isn't just going to get magically flushed overnight. We're 20-30 years away from GenX being permanently unregistered. 50 years from millennials dropping to third. Even the RNC fracture is at least a full cycle away, which doesn't mean the conservatives go away. It just means we have GOP and GOP+. Which will obviously start to accelerate things and cause the superpacs to start to fight a two-front war.

The Dems aren't getting any more conservative. So it's not like the Koch money is going elsewhere. What are they going to do? They might pick off a few DINOs but nothing substantial.

It is not a decade away, in fact it isn't even a cycle away. If the Dems win the WH and The House in November you will see a lot of the old guard retire in bigger numbers than you are seeing now. (if we somehow keep the Senate it could be a real bloodbath) Why be in the House when you can make more being a pundit and writing a book about how crazy these clowns are? There is a cottage industry around it now.

You bring up 2020 but look at their performance since then without Trump on the ballot. How has their turnout been since then? (how was it in 2018 without him) That is their problem. He is their only draw. Down ballot they stink which is why the Dems have overperformed in every major election his name isn't involved with. Women make up half the population...how are those demos working for the GOP these days? Every election we hear that the GOP is making headway with Black and Brown people...how is that working out for them? (about as well as the "Minnesota Could Turn Red" prediction we hear every 4 years)

This is Trump's last run, and they have no one else anyone that anyone has that kind of love for...and even the few that are liked aren't going to stick around and tank their career or already did by challenging Dear Leader.

The state GOPs will try to do what Michigan is doing by putting a less crazy person in charge. Eventually money will talk and the neocons will be back in charge and they can go back to a more normal conservative agenda. It just depends on how long it takes for the GOP to decide hang the zealots out to dry.

I can’t see it - the zealots have been whipped into such a frenzy that they’ll quit voting rather than vote for a neocon (aka RINO). If the GOP turns its back on MAGA, they’ll lose 50 seats in 2026.

The neocons are leaving. The three shining stars of the Neocon movement originally were McCarthy, Ryan and Cantor...all three are out of politics. The guy who just quit was a 40 year old neocon. Neocons are RINOS now and are getting primaried out...if you are even one inch to the left of MAGA you are done. And if you even pretend like you want government to function on a basic level then dealing with these chodes is becoming laborious. (Ask Freedum Caucus Member Ken Buck)

It will take a decade to get the MAGA stink off on the low endlow they would be better off taking the Koch Kash elsewhere.

And from what I have read the new MIGOP leader may be less crazy, but still pretty crazy. The state parties in many states are worse than the national.

New — GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski on Trump and her party on @InsidePolitics Sunday
“I wish that as Republicans, we had a nominee I could get behind. I certainly can’t get behind Donald Trump.”

Asked if she would become an independent, Murkowski said: “Oh, I think I’m very independent minded.” And she added: “I just regret that our party is seemingly becoming a party of Donald Trump”

It took the Great Depression and WW2 for the Democrats to shake off the stench of the Second Klan.

The new guy is a classical West Michigan Dutch religious conservative. He's lawful evil to Krazy Kristy's chaotic evil. He at least got control of the party's purse strings before Kristy could spend it all on herself and her entourage.

Admittedly he is better but it's a low bar to hurdle...

Beg pardon?

Dementia Donnie's going apeshit over all his court cases bearing down. He's terrified of losing his business, and even more terrified about the documents and insurrection cases.
