Look I like Dean Phillips and if Biden wasn't running again I might even support his bid. (I would know he has zero chance) But he is running a campaign against an incumbent with almost the exact same platform basically meaning "vote for me I am not an old guy!" is all he has to differentiate himself. (and he is Jewish I guess...yippie!) Maybe if he had a massive track record of doing policy work and brokering deals and had the same political acumen and clout a guy like Biden does I could see it. Biden has a lot of faults but the reason he has been effective is because he has the history and practice at the job. Obama didn't and he got steamrolled. Phillips has none and he would get just pimpslapped by people smarter and more seasoned than him. He is not qualified to run for President in any capacity (outside of the age and being a citizen parts) that is why he is and will get no support. If you want to replace the Incumbent you need to offer something they don't.

If you want to take an even handed view of these things just imagine the debate if it happened. Biden vs. Phillips. Every question would have almost the same answers except questions on age. If they ask Dean what he would do that Biden hasn't done there is no answer he can give that is true. So what he is going to spend the entire debate mocking Biden for his speech impediment and that he just says everything he is thinking because damn the consequences he is the President? That is not enough to kick to the curb someone who has been the most effective President of my lifetime. Biden being a bit slow in an interview is not enough to push him away despite him being the most union friendly President of the last 50 years. I have never been a Biden guy...didn't want him as Obama's Veep (was way wrong) and never wanted him as President...but I am thankful every day he was the candidate that won out in the Primaries and that he was the one who was there to fix the problems left by the previous cast of morons. He has shown the Democratic Party how to play the game...he has reminded them of why people used to have zero issue supporting them. He reminded them that a 70% win is still a win in the long run. You don't need flowery language and big ideas, you just do what is right and maybe 5 years ago it was wrong but that was then and this is now. He didn't care that he would get grief from Obama and the Dems when he came out for Gay Marriage, he just knew it was the right thing to do and did it and he dragged their azzes along with him. He doesn't care that Ron DeSantis hates him and spits in his face every chance he gets...a hurricane hits he flies there and does what he can. (even when Ron can't be bothered to lace up his boots and meet him) He has one party actively gunning to destroy his son (and him) and he doesn't take revenge because he has been around long enough to know they will need him at some point for something behind the scenes. Phillips has none of that so he needs to sit down, shut up and spend the next 10 years building a resume worthy of the job.
 
Phillips is just placing a little bet that I like to call a "flier." Sort of like my +10000 bet on the Jets to win the Super Bowl, after Rodgers went down. He comes back this year and gives that defense something to play for, I like my bet.

Biden will be 81 in a couple of weeks. It would not be completely out of the ordinary if he dies or strokes out before November of 2024. He wouldn't be the first 81 year old that it happened to.

Phillips runs as essentially a younger Joe Biden. If Biden goes, especially at the right time, I like Phillips bet. If Biden is still around and functioning 9 months from now, Phillips bows out, none the worse for wear.

If Biden died then a high profile Democrat would jump in. Newsom most likely (God help us). Pete. Klobuchar. Beto (LOL). Booker.

I would kill to have Franken accept the nomination. He and Zelenskyy would have the best pressers in political history.

New Siena/NYT polls out have Trump leading Biden in five battleground states (Pa, Az, Nv, Mi, Ga) including up 52-41 in Nevada. I’m sure people being upset at Biden right now for means a higher non-response rate for Democrats/liberals in these current polls, which is likely skewing the results, but still a little gross. Trump can absolutely win. Can’t forget that.

People under 35 do not answer calls from unknown numbers.
 
With polls like this, it's no wonder Hillary won in a landslide, right?

The faster you guys learn to stop wringing your hands over MSM polling a year out from Election Day, the better.

What do you mean...Mitt Romney totally beat Obama in 2012 just like polls predicted! I mean how soon we forget that we are living under the foot of the dreaded 2022 Red Wave!!!11!1
