2023 NCAA Women's Tournament - Scores and Comments

Slightly related, do you know which Badger has the most FF goals in her career? Or NCAA Tournament goals overall? (I don't, just asking.)

I don't, but you have to go with one of the big names who played in three or four of them. Knight, Duggan, Decker, etc.

I'll try to look it up between games.

The TV people sure are putting in a lot of effort telling me what a great team Northeastern is. Delivering their obituary, I guess.

Maybe put the top 4 WCHA teams shorthanded for the entire game when playing non-WCHA teams, perhaps then some parity!

Big ten school with a coach is a wrecking ball in womens hockey. I think if USA hockey has a more egalitarian scouting system that might help a bit but hard to ignore the big ten effect.

Those 3 Clarkson teams are looking pretty special.

I've been working with the game on in the background and I swear every time I've looked up during the third period there's Northeastern fumbling an easy puck at the blue like on a power play.

I thought Ohio State played very well. Congrats to them!
NCAA shows the shots as 53-15 (but Thiele with 16 saves, so there's that). Is that about the story of the game, or was it closer than the shots indicated?

It was at least as lopsided as the shot totals. Ohio State played well, but Northeastern looked like the second best set of Huskies I watched this year.

It can wait; save it for the offseason.

I figured somewhere in the 'Record book', they'd have that tallied up, and they do, though "all time NCAA", so not FF particularly.

Most goals is Knight with 10 in 12 games, 2nd are Pankowski and Zaugg with 9 in 10 games (both of them), then Brooke Ammerman with 6 in 9 games.
Total points is Knight with 22, Duggan 2nd with 19 in 12 games, then Pankowski with 13, Zaugg and Lawler with 12, Bauer with 11 in only 7 games, Clark with 10...

It was not closer than the shots indicated. Great performance from Philips. Top NU line had their moments but wasn’t crisp like OSU was.

OSU’s Hauswirth - not sure if she’s underrated, don’t hear her name as much but I really enjoyed watching her today.

Curious who the Buckeye was that sort of delayed and made the pass in the slot that led to the shot that caused the rebound and subsequent first goal. Just fantastic poise that led to the game winner. Peschel ornHauswirth maybe?

edit: Webster. Nice play.

I thought Ohio State played well and except for just a few minutes in the second period didn't give Northeastern a chance. I felt Northeastern looked good enough to take advantage if the Buckeyes were to let them in.

I thought Ohio State played well enough to deserve some credit other than it was just they played a bad eastern team...lol

Boxscore has the first goal as Sloane Matthews from Kenzie Hauswirth, which may or may not have any basis in reality. I guess you're saying that the nice play was all upstream from the scoring points.

Heise's 30th goal of the year on a rebound off the end boards of an Oden shot for a 1-0 lead.
