2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

Congratulations on getting the votes to top the pole. well deserved

While I think they deserve it, I hate getting ranked this high this early in the season. Feels like they're just getting into their groove, hope it continues. Don't think they've played a complete game yet with all 4 lines buzzing

Dangers of reading their own press clippings early

UML is always a tough team especially at the tsongas center

until last year they had problems winning in Lowell

BC escaped with a W

again another too many men penalty, the fourth of the young season

Hopefully they can get it together tomorrow in Lowell

Game time is 6 PM

With less than three minutes left clinging to a one goal lead. This needs to stop.

Seeing the replay of that one, that seemed like a ridiculous call to me. But the overall point is spot on. They gotta get this out of their game quick.

Fowler with a .921 save percentage. If he holds up and is anything close to that this could be a special season. Tough to sweep and we know how tough Lowell has been for BC. Pressure shifts to UML though to try and salvage the weekend.

They used to go a whole season without one of those penalities. Typical UML game, trap, grind, wait for the misplay and then capitalize. Fowler misplayed the second goal an there was a Lowell guy who pounced on it. Gauthier sets up his office just at the right circle and looks for the pass. He shoots so quickly that if it is on net and the goalie is not already in front of it, it is going in. The goal by Minnetiean was special, he was determined to get to the net.

Hopefully they will be healthy for Maine next weekend

Orono has been a horror show for BC

Minimize mistakes and penalties

Clear the puck out the zone and make the other team regroup

The inability to get the puck out and turning it over often leads to goals for the opposition

I expect Maine to be just as gritty and tough on home ice as UML on their home ice

BC will has one more visit to the Tsongas in February

Sitting behind the scorekeeper box we saw the reviews on that leg check on the replay monitor

Referees LeBlanc and Holton made the correct call
(5 minute major)

Good tough gritty weekend by BC. They had a couple sloppy mistakes, especially the goal with 8 seconds left in the period. Overall, happy to get out of the weekend with 2 wins against a team that really clogs it up.

Maine will be all about shutting down the Nadeau brothers. They put up video game type numbers up in the BCHL last year. Bradley Nadeau is a pure sniper, can't leave him alone in high danger areas. The good thing is, Maine isn't team that's going to clog up the neutral zone the way Lowell was and they're not as stout defensively. Ostman, their goalie had a really good last year but hasn't been as stout as he was. Should be a good weekend, Ben Barr has done a phenomenal job rebuilding Maine, will be a fun weekend up in Maine. One of the best atmospheres in college hockey, I'm sure it will be jumping this weekend

Any win against UML is a good win, especially on the road. That team is never easy to play against. A weekend sweep of that team is a solid accomplishment. A pair at Maine next weekend is going to be another tough test. Always a difficult place to play under any circumstance and this Maine team is much improved. BC better bring its A game. Man, Hockey East looks deep and tough this season.

This feels like such a big weekend for this group. Going into what will be a raucous environment in enemy territory for 2 nights. A really well coached team with some serious talent with a good game plan. A big put up or shove it type weekend in my mind, The energy will be big there, looking forward to seeing how they live up to the challenge

These will be the first games at Alfond since Lewiston. Maine is back in a big way this year. Gonna be a very difficult series.

The 5 minute major was the right call. That was a dangerous play. Did you get a look at the replay of the Lowell goal that was waved off? From where I sit it was hard to tell if there was goaltender interference.

One skate was clearly in the crease and the other was right on the edge, although I don't think it affected Fowler, it was more a technical violation than physical interference. Holton signaled the puck in the net and then immediately waved it off. It was close and UML was clearly in the crease and BC was fortunate. However I am sure if he ruled it a goal BC would have asked for a review and it would have been disallowed. UML was in the crease when the puck went in.

If you go into the crease on your own and screen the goalie i have always considered that interference otherwise what's the point of the crease at all then. Haven't seen replay of this one though I'll try to check it out.

Last year’s team would definitely be swept but this year they have a much better chance

The depth and talent on this team is night and day

The chemistry between Jelvik and Cambrio has added to the effectiveness of this line and depth

Interesting enough, fellow BC commit Jake Sondreal is also from Woodbury, Minnesota. Perhaps there is some sort of relationship there with Skahan. Just a projection on my part but for next season:

Out

F (5): Malone, Armstrong, Ambrosio, Shamburger, Gauthier
D (2): Bengtsson, Powell

In

F (5): James Hagens, Gavin Cornforth, Jake Sondreal, Teddy Stiga, Justin Solovey
D (2): Michael Hagens, Will Skahan

If that's how it shakes out it's a very good class. Hagens should offset the loss of Gauthier and the hope is you get a 2nd year out of Will Smith, Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault. Next year should be another great team.
