2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

this weekend coach carvel informed me the best metric to evaluate experience is # of games in a specific building, that has me concerned for this weekend at the dunk.

2 pm on a friday against an opponent no one has faced should be an interesting environment

What a laughable comment by UMass' Carvel. They have a couple of players that have played more games in the Garden than many BC players have having played 4 games by being in the Hockey East championship game two and three years ago. I find that at most anyone from BC could have played is 9 not the 10 to 12 Carvel alluded to. Those would be only Ambrosio and Powell if they even played that many. Not sure how many Jamie Armstrong had as he played for BU previously. There are few that could have played 6 for BC and not sure if those juniors even played in those games as freshmen. According to Carvel UMass must be a prohibitive favorite against Denver as his team has experience playing AIC in Springfield. As for BC I doubt Michigan Tech has more experience in Providence either. Carvel should stop making excuses.

Not sure what to think about the bracket we're in.

Wisconsin - I find the B1G brand of hockey to be interestingly strange and it remains a skill game with hybrid players as it has been with those teams for quite some time. That being said, you better think twice about a Hastings coached team with a top goalie in the country. Yes they've been bad down the stretch and have serious rust to shake off on Friday but if they get past Quinnipiac, hmm.

QU - Always a tough matchup. Another great coach. Defending champs so they know how to win big games and don't care about how much history you have. We do owe them for 2016.

MTU - A team with NOTHING to lose. As has been mentioned here earlier, start on time and get up early on them and force them to play from an uncomfortable position. More than any other game; you get all 4 lines on the ice early with quick shifts to get everyone in the game and get the blood pumping.

Seeing this team perform this weekend should inspire confidence; launching UMass into the sun and following it up with a beatdown over BU (the clear #2 in the country) was one of the best things this program has done in a long time.

Also, can anyone at the game Saturday tell me if Brown once again matched up Cutter on Celebrini? If so, you have to absolutely consider this a huge advantage for Cutter in the Hobey race if he's shut down Celebrini for both games where BC had last change.

Carvel turned into a bozo real fast. Speaking of bozos, not sure if anyone picked up on it during the selection show but Colby Cohen went out of his way to point out that UMass felt they were screwed by the officials specifically in the BC series.

Yep, that was Cohen's rationale for how UMass could have ended up further ahead of CC in the chase for last spot. It's like Carvel made sure everyone in the media had his talking points ready to go.

I hope Denver hangs a touchdown on them.

There are plenty of tickets available in Providence via Ticketmaster alone nevermind the secondary market. BC attendance has been off the charts this year but Easter weekend is really gonna hurt.

BC students are on Easter vacation and comprise the vast majority of fans at these games. The reason attendance at the home quarterfinal vs. UConn was 7,000 ish, was due to students not being on vacation..(normally they are on spring break during QF’s).

Interesting point that slipped my memory. Did anyone else notice Brown mixed up the top 6 for the 2nd half or so of the 2nd period? No one was hurt that I could see, my only thinking was to key on 71? I believe it was Leonard - Smith - Cutter

edit if this site every migrates beyond 2005, this might be my new avatar:

When you have a team like this obviously anything less than a national title will be deemed a "failure" but we know it's not that simple.

I don't look at BC as being head and shoulders above the field. Just look at the top 10 in PWR. Major historical programs everywhere. I taped end of Michigan-Michigan State and watched the OT. What a game.

With the day off in between games I was hoping BC would have late game on Friday. Sucks that it's Easter weekend.
I'll be rooting for you guys. I've got several cousins who are alums and a nephew who is a double eagle. Anything can happen but I like your chances. Good luck!

Yup, he juggled lines a bit the past few games in the middle of the game with 5-on-5 action and quite frankly it seems to have helped when he does it. But good point, may have been to help defensively with the last change and likely getting matchups defensively he wanted. You may continue to see this at times in the NCAAs.

Greg Brown has his finger on the pulse. I wasn't sure if he was the right guy for the job at the time and he has quickly put an end to that.

Saturday I thought I was sitting beside a BU fan but he was actually a Wisconsin fan due to him wearing red similar to BU jerseys. He thought Badgers had no chance but I said you never know.

But I remember when BC lost to them 2-1 in the FF in Milwaukee.

The Q is a pretty good team and it won't be an easy game if we play the Bobcats.

That 2006 Wisconsin team was a wagon, loaded with future NHLers and was the clear favorite heading into the tournament.

I did notice a little juggling of lines in the second period. I thought maybe Leonard was hurt but it was to put Gauthier on Celebrini, who BTW had 8 shots for the game. I did note Cohen's comments regarding BC /UMASS game. The only person who questioned the call was Carvel and one would think that it is not something you would raise as a question about the number one team on a selection show. Umass had the whole season to qualify for the tournament and they just got blown out in their most recent game. Like a lot of BU people they just can't help themselves when it comes to BC hockey. Afterall BC is not even in Boston (??!!). BC beat two of the best teams in the League by a score of 14-2 when it was time to bring the best version of your team to the Garden. BC is back, new coach, young players (youngest team in college hockey) and commentators like Cohen just have a hard time dealing with it.

I noticed this too but it happened a lot after a PP or PK. Instead of putting out the 4th line, he’d have Jellvik up with Smith and Perrault or Armstrong up with Gasseau and Jellvik. There were some others but a lot of it felt like it had to do with special teams and a reluctance to use the 4th line

That was my thought as well. The penalty kill was messed up even more when it was Posma, Malone or Armstrong in the box. It was just an adjustment to get the lines back to order without overplaying or underplaying some. The power play while using a combination of the two lines really wasn't out there much as they scored about a minute in 3 times and only about 13 seconds the 4th time.

Most regionals with BC in it, I have often seen many seats available whether you buy ahead of time or on the day of the game. Even the games on TV from other regionals I see a lot of empty seats with the exception of teams that travel well like fans from North Dakota.

I don't think first game will be packed at 2 PM and being Easter weekend. I don't think there will be many MTU fans unless I am mistaken. I know a few BC fans will miss the game because of Easter but I expect more BC fans than MTU fans and not a very distant travel for Eagle fans.

I bought mine online but I doubt there's only 140 tickets left. I am thinking it is an artificial misinformation created to induce more sales of tickets making some fans think " I'd better buy my tickets now before they're sold out."

The 2nd game will probably will probably see more people with Quinnipiac and Wisconsin. Or I could be completely off base.

Tickets in lower bowl reselling at $117 per ticket now and likely climbing. Maybe it is different this year since BC is having a special year. In any case, best of luck. Would love to have BC, BU, and Maine make the frozen four. Will cheer for HE teams as long as they don’t play Maine, of course.

I ate the $20 in fees cuz I saw an aisle seat facing the benches just inside the blue line at the regular $50 price

also, was able to do will call (mobile tickets suck)

I could be completely making this up but I thought for regionals they do a 48 hour hold on allocations for each of the school and then once all those all allotments are accounted for, they release any unused tickets? I thought I remembered in years past a new batch of tickets becoming available on Tuesday or Wednesday

You are correct- unless there’s no allotment left of course

Honestly your best bet for the cheapest ticket is to wait until day of game now. Just depends if you want to wait or want a particular seat.
