2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

With 10 minutes left in the game when the game was already decided each team had 3 PP chances. At some point BU simply has to kill one of those off and/or convert one of their own.

I don't know what the situation with Armstrong was, whether he wanted to return to BU this year and was told no or what his relationship is/was with their players and staff. What a dynamic for him though being the lone back to back Hockey East champion.

Pando was jumping up and down all night, the ref finally came over and told him to calm down and a little later to just

I think Pandolfo is going to be a great coach at BU and it scares me that he’s back there. But he and his staff (Brandvold) cry about the officiating almost as much as Carvel and Umass fans. In one game this year Brandvold got an intermission interview and was crying about BC diving. What a bozo.

I think the Hobey race just separated Smith and Cutter from the rest of the pack but complicates things with Smith vs Cutter. I think final 3 really should be Smith, Cutter, Celebrini. Smith has quite a lead now in points. Going to be interesting. Two more games before votes are submitted.

Maybe so, but I have a hard time picturing it being 3 eastern guys. I'm going to guess the final 3 will be Celebrini, one of Smith or Cutter, and Jackson Blake.

What a performance last night. Smith's 4 goals stole the show, but I think the scariness of this team is best indicated by Leonard's insane display of stickhandling and passing on Smith's 3rd goal and then Fowler's diving Dominik Hasek-like "did I really just see that?" save on the other end. Two displays of sublime next level talent on both ends of the ice. When you have the talent BC has up front combined with that type of goaltending at the other end, it's difficult not to feel confident of their chances.

I'll always remember the 2011 first round disaster against CC though to not get overconfident. They're deservedly the favorites and I feel good about their chances, but all it takes is one off night. That said, man did last night feel good as a BC fan!

No doubt. While we see common themes in the national title runs, every one is different. This team has a few chances to write their own story in the history books of BC hockey. The two things they can really exorcise:
- No Beanpot school has won the national title without winning the Beanpot first.
- BC's generally unhappy history in the Providence Civic Center/Dunkin Donuts Arena/Amica Pavilion whatever the heck else you can call it. It's our anti-Worcester where BC rarely loses. Sure there were two good wins there, including the amazing late regulation win vs. St Lawrence in the Frozen Four semifinal thanks to a sublime goal by Jeff Farkas, but stringing two wins in a row in that building eludes the program at the moment.

This group is pretty special though and I will take my chances with them to break these two curses.

Congrats on the HE title. Your team is just scary at this point. I know BC has had many talented forwards through the years with many different eras, and groups of them at times, but in my experience watching as an opponent fan, no prior BC team can match your top 4 forwards this year. Just when it seems like one of them is emerging as the best, another one has a monster game (and no doubt they feed off of each other). For BU fans, the game was a reverse of Friday night. The team that maybe looked better 5 on 5 for at least long stretches, lost the special teams and goaltending battle.

On Armstrong - I feel like I heard that BU didn't have a slot to keep him. Sam Stevens, who often was on the 4th line with Jaime, and brings a more well rounded game, likely got the nod over him. I imagine there wasn't room to bring back 2 4th line forwards for 5th seasons.

Yeah, what defkit said. This is the best BC team I've seen (I go back to the 1984-1985 season). Enjoy the run to a championship. (And yes, I'm hoping I'm jinxing you, but I know jinxes aren't real. : ) I don't see you losing this thing.)

Any opinions of the bracket ? MTU and Wisconsin / Quinnipiac are in Providence. No team should be overlooked and obviously BC is favored. Of the three, the Q is probably the toughest obstacle.

The first meeting was close resulting in 2-1 OT BC win. They are a much better team now than in the fall when the season began. No need to motivate the Bobcats. The Q want revenge and repeat NCAAs.

No opinions. BC is the clear-cut favorite and I hate that fact.

Maine was eliminated and I stayed Saturday anyway and was sandwiched between some BU and BC fans. Pleasurable people all of them. With that said this BC team is absolutely one of the best I've ever seen. And mind you I saw them almost lose twice in Orono. They are so much better now, and we're on top of their game last night. Sat behind Greg Brown and I swear it looks like he is debating what club he is picking on the golf course rather then coaching the #1 team in the country. Don't mean that in a bad way he just seems like a laid back dude. Obviously works for his team.

Surprising to me there are still 140 seats left in Providence on Ticketmaster as of the time of this post. Maybe there is a big difference for the BC fan base where traveling out of Boston isn’t popular. I’m thinking of getting a hotel half way between Springfield and Providence and going to both regionals. Would love to see Wisconsin plays Q in addition to BC. Not sure I can do that much hockey at this age though. I miss the old days where they had 4 games at one site on the weekend.

When you have a team like this obviously anything less than a national title will be deemed a "failure" but we know it's not that simple.

I don't look at BC as being head and shoulders above the field. Just look at the top 10 in PWR. Major historical programs everywhere. I taped end of Michigan-Michigan State and watched the OT. What a game.

With the day off in between games I was hoping BC would have late game on Friday. Sucks that it's Easter weekend.

Only 140 left? That cannot be right. I think this is typical for regionals. For some reason at first it looks soldout and then in a couple days there will be plenty of tickets. Easter weekend is going to hurt attendance.

The 3rd period was a turning point for this team. All year long they have had trouble holding leads. They won almost all of those games, except at PC, but the 3rd period last night was their best performance with a lead all year long. As others have pointed out, the team defense was outstanding.

Perrault and Leonard make outstanding passes and set up Smith who is a sniper. They just come in waves with speed.

MTU has a lot of freshmen, 20-21 years old, but still freshman at this level. They’re not a high scoring team. QU seems to have trouble scoring consistently and Wisconsin was rolling in February, but got knocked out at home by tOSU in the B1G tournament.

Cornell has only lost 6 games all year. It will be interesting to see how they do in their regional.

Go Eagles!

It's interesting and almost surprising BC has only been the overall #1 seed twice before but it is tough to finish #1 in the Pairwise and some of those early York teams (Gionta era) took a long time to get going and always seemed to just get crazy good come March. #1 worked out in 2012; 2005 not so much.

Even though Colby Cohen is one of the most annoying people in all of college hockey, I think he's right about getting things off on the right foot early and not having a bad first period (he said first 5 minutes but I think it goes beyond that). It's a weird 2pm start time and a bad first 20 can really get in your head. In spite of being the youngest team, the best players all have the big game experience from WJCs so lack of NCAA tournament experience doesn't concern me as much as it normally would and I think this weekend's environment prepares them well.

Most regionals with BC in it, I have often seen many seats available whether you buy ahead of time or on the day of the game. Even the games on TV from other regionals I see a lot of empty seats with the exception of teams that travel well like fans from North Dakota.

I don't think first game will be packed at 2 PM and being Easter weekend. I don't think there will be many MTU fans unless I am mistaken. I know a few BC fans will miss the game because of Easter but I expect more BC fans than MTU fans and not a very distant travel for Eagle fans.

I bought mine online but I doubt there's only 140 tickets left. I am thinking it is an artificial misinformation created to induce more sales of tickets making some fans think " I'd better buy my tickets now before they're sold out."

The 2nd game will probably will probably see more people with Quinnipiac and Wisconsin. Or I could be completely off base.

this weekend coach carvel informed me the best metric to evaluate experience is # of games in a specific building, that has me concerned for this weekend at the dunk.

2 pm on a friday against an opponent no one has faced should be an interesting environment
