2022 Olympic Games

Tweeter says Roque playing C in her place for now. Can they call up a F they cut if Decker is out for the remainder of the tourney?

No. Once the Olympic roster is set, it's set.

This year they are allowed taxi squads because of Covid, but like someone else mentioned, the US did not bring one.

Canada beat the Swiss 12 - 1. Czechs over China 3 - 1.

Anna Segedi from SLU on Team China knocked out of the game with a separated shoulder on a very questionable hit. Tough break to go through 6 months in Russia with Team China only to get knocked out after half a game.

To add to all the good news, Canada's Melodie Daoust left their game with some sort of shoulder injury. I haven't seen any updates on her.

Wow! Is this a conditioning issue? Was there a lack of preparation for the intensity of Olympic play? This is really a bad look for the federations involved. A player shouldn't have to sacrifice their body because necessary steps were neglected before gametime.

Adding, another reporter on twitter posts that USAHockey was asked in early January if they would be bringing a 'taxi squad' with them into the bubble for just this circumstance, and the answer was 'no', the 23 player roster would be it.

That's a really stupid decision with Covid. I'd have a goalie for sure taxi'ed since if all of them are in a position meeting and they all get it, they are screwed.

I highly doubt this was the case at all. First game after very long preparation, including conditioning for many months. Big buildup to the first game. Players trying extra hard to make an impact, maybe doing some things they might not normally do. Highly doubtful that "necessary steps were neglected before game time".

I tried to watch the UW/Finland game, but I just could not get into it after about 15 minutes, so I started to watch the mix couples curling and was treated to see the US implode losing after having a 6-3 lead with a couple ends to go.

I don't like these uniforms for Canada too much better than their black ones. At least you can see the maple leaf although I don't like seeing a black maple leaf instead of a white one or maybe red with a white border around it that's wide enough to really see it well. I also didn't like the white numbers on the white US jerseys the other day. A nice red border was needed there to make the numbers stand out well too. I like both uniforms for Finland.

These are the important things about Olympic hockey! :):)

The Canadians look really good through 2 games. Getting scoring throughout the lineup. Happy for Sarah Nurse as I always enjoyed watching her as a Badger.

Without Brianna Decker I have a hard time seeing the US taking the Gold.

Surprised the Finish have looked so bad. Obviously missing Noora Raty in net.

Lami as a color commentator is not good. Too monotone, no excitement or jump.
I prefer her to AJ. At least she calmly finishes her sentences. AJ sounds like her phone battery is going to die in 10 seconds and she has 30 seconds of speaking that she wants to finish before it does. I get excited by the product on the ice, not anything that the talking heads are babbling about.

Listen to it sober sometime and see if that changes your perception.

AJ? Most of us would prefer some discussion of what is happening on the ice in this century instead of yet another digression into what it was like in 1998 when she was an actual player. Shut up with your stories and focus some analysis of the game happening right there in front of you right now. She had her moment as a player and possibly immediately after her playing career had something to offer as an analyst. Those times have past and her continued appearances grow increasingly irrelevant.

Sorry, just my opinion, and as always, you may not agree.
