2022 Olympic Games

Nice highlights (and impressive memory!) Star studded roster for sure, and nice to see Ridder packed. 3 goals by defenders....maybe that’s part of the recipe to win it all.

Minnesota had this regular lineup on D...They might be the best group of defenders ever on a women's college hockey team.

#2 Lee Stecklein Fr 12 pts
#5 Rachel Ramsey So 29 pts
#7 Mira Jalouso Sr 30 pts
#13 Milica McMillen Fr 26 pts
#19 Megan Bozak Sr 57 pts
#27 Baylee Gilanders Jr 13 pts

57 goals goals scored by these 6....

And they had fill in players

#6 Katie Frischmann Sr 4 pts
#17 Jodyn Burns So 3 pts

No score after one. Each team had their chances but neither could find the back of the net.

Yeah we got a score! Unfortunately it was for the other team. Once again, Canada is winning most of the puck battles and controlling most of the puck possession...and has developed more scoring chances. There was a long delay in the opening minutes of the 2nd as the referees tried their best to sort out the penalties. That took WAY too long.

Anyway, still anyone's ball game. GO USA!

Some absolutely beautiful goals.
I want ot. This is so fun.

Abby Murphy exploding out from behind another USa player in the scrum to punch Ambrose in the face and knock her to the ground was quite something.

These 2 teams are awesome to watch and it fees like a coin toss as to who will win any given game. When I watch I pay more attention to the Canadians. 3 things they do well that seem to happen over and over:

1- goals off faceoffs. Essentially 2 the other day where centers tied up and a Canadian won the battle to the loose puck that led to a goal. GMG this summer had a goal off the faceoff. The PW event in May, Jenner had a great goal off the faceoff, play couldn’t have been more than 2 seconds.

2- player driving to the net with their stick on the ice for a tip AND delivering the needed pass to make it work. They are so good at this. Turnbull and Johnson we’re scoring like this in May, Poulin did it the other day, Clark tonight.

3- Poulin momentarily parking herself at the wall on the blue line then drifting in uncovered. She did it at the PW thing in May in the final, Eldridge fed her the pass as she drifted in and she
buried it. Tonight, Jenner and Larocque drove to the net and Brandt and Knight covered them, but somehow Harmon ended up behind the net with the wrong player drifting in to hammer in a rebound. Great play.

Noticed that Turnbull was wearing an A for Canada tonight, interesting.

After US defended the pp in the OT, with Jenner and Poulin needing a break Canada put out Fillier, Johnson, Turnbull, Clark as forwards to buy some time. They actually carried the play other than one scary rush from Coyne (who plays with so much heart and was my fave American to watch tonight). Awesome job by them getting thru to Poulin and Jenner’s next shift.

Hope everyone stays healthy and the game can be played on Monday, in Minnesota.

I will be there Monday, hoping for a better result than the one 4 years ago at the Xcel.

The last My Why game scheduled in the US has been cancelled due to Covid concerns. The last two games are to be in Canada. We will see what happens.
I'm bummed about missing the Minnesota connections here in St. Paul.

What a stupid gutless last-minute decision to cancel the USA/Canada game in St Paul! Make masks mandatory and we all would have been fine! We do it at Ridder and all the other NCAA venues. I am more than a little upset!

I think it had to do with the players testing positive, nothing about the fans.
