2022 NCAA Tournament

That’s an old beef. It actually is more like the Power 5 doesn’t want anyone playing in their sandbox. Nothing is going to happen.

And it is limited. No D3 school is ever allowed to play one sport up anymore. That door is closed forever.

Russell

You sure? I recall reading that the play-up exception was reinstituted at the last convention. Hence the rumors of Utica heading for bigger pastures.

BTW, at the women's final. Gustavus scored on the PP at 19:59.9 to tie the game at 2. We're headed to overtime.

Geneseo defeats Babson 3-2 in what was an entertaining Game to advance to the Frozen Four in "Placid". They are just relentless in attack. The Speed and Passing was excellent while just spraying it all over the Ice. They move off the Puck very well and jump into transition so fast that causes opponents all kinds of problems. Geneseo must have hit the Post about 5 times during the Game. On the defensive side they were back checking very well. Babson were having trouble getting thru the Neutral Zone clean while Geneseo were moving thru the Neutral Zone with speed and seeming ease. Geneseo had Babson star player #9 Ryan Black in their sights all night with some big hits on the star player and maybe a late one or two but they made their point. The depth and talent is top level with the Seniors #21 Brendan Miller, #19 Dan Bosio, #18 Henry Cleghorn, #17 Tyson Gilmour and then #11 Alex Wilkins and #25 Matt Doran were fantastic on Defense. It was just to much for Babson to overcome in this particular Game especially while giving Geneseo three PP's when they are at 30% on the season. 1st Period Babson was racing up and down the Ice matching Geneseo but Geneseo kept that up for most of the Game while Babson could not match it for a full 60. Geneseo even showed some physicality that I was not expecting so they can play any type of Game. Babson made it a Game late in the 3rd but it was just to little to late. It was a great effort to get back in the Game but they could not find the equalizer. I thought Babson D #10 John Corrigan played very well along with G #30 Brad Arvanitis. Babson loses a Huge Senior class that has given so much to their program and I just wanted to congratulate them all on great careers.

Geneseo is going to the national semifinals for the fourth time in their history. They beat Babson 3-2 after a furious attempt to tie it with an extra attacker for two minutes.

The Auggies and Green Knights are tied at 1 heading into the third. Two of the last three tournament meetings between these two have gone into OT. We will see if that is in store tonight as well.

Adrian did not blow the air horn for Hobart’s first goal.

Thought it was a NCAA tournament rule now to either blow it for both teams or not blow it at all?

Just happened to be at the game and I’m pretty sure they blew the horn on each of Hobart’s goals. Person asked me why after the first goal.

Two teams really had SNC’s number this year and both prevented SNC from raising a banner - Adrian and Augsburg.

Congrats to the Auggies. Controlled the third period and deserved the win.

First trip to FF since 1997 I believe. Beat Adrian!

Terrible third period but a great season overall for SNC. Especially after the 1-3 start. Sad to see the careers of so many great seniors come to an end.

Even though I am kind of sour about PSU, it's good that UNE made it. Upsets certainly add interest to the NCAA tournament.

Russell...I completely respect you. I trust what I was I was told. There is a chance I could be wrong. Text me I'll tell you what I've heard.

I’m not doubting you heard that.

I’m saying it’s an old beef. Nothing new. And I doubt anything will be done. They’ve passed lots of legislation to grandfather everyone and then prevent any new ones from playing up. I don’t see them opening this issue up again.

Does the Adirondack Center have Goal Judges? I ask because Heenan sure was chirping a lot in the direction of where a Goal Judge would be as he was walking-off the ice at the end of the period! If there are indeed Goal Judges, and he/she didn’t light the lamp, more evidence that it wasn’t in.

Interesting how nobody, and I mean *nobody* went-over to shake the hands of the officials after the game.

Cheers!!!

So the arena in Utica is a very interesting case when it comes to this. The goal lights are actually hardwired into the scorers booth, and they're instructed to only turn the light on when you see the referee point. The NCAA supplies goal judges for the playoffs, but they have no control over the lights

Just happened to be at the game and I’m pretty sure they blew the horn on each of Hobart’s goals. Person asked me why after the first goal.

My apologies if I was mistaken. I only watched the first period (1-1 score) and didn’t hear anything. If they did blow it, it certainly wasn’t with the same gusto. Whatever, it’s a silly rule anyways and I think home teams have earned that advantage.

At least the weren’t blowing that obnoxious smoke behind the Hobart goaltender (on the first goal anyways.)

Good luck to your team moving forward. I can’t stand the Adrian program (at least a half-dozen D1 transfers, kids who have appeared in Major Junior games, the coach, their history with Point, that smoke gun, etc etc) but I like seeing the NCHA winning championships.
