2021 NCAA Championship: No. 1 Northeastern Huskies vs. No. 2 Wisconsin Badgers

lol Lindsay. Women's hockey? Which planet do you have in mind? :D

When I was living in suburban Los Angeles for Wisconsin's 2006-2008 championship games. I would go to a sports bar where they had satellites and dozens of TV screens, and - even in the middle of NCAA basketball - they were OK with it. I'd say stick me in whatever back room corner you want, as long as I can see a TV with hockey. I'm good with it. But get there early, and be patient.

It’s startling to me Hockeybuckeye that in reading my narrative, that’s your response!! C’est la vie....

I’d love a separate thread, and will probably do that but I did purposely use the attention that this thread draws because of the dedicated posters beliefs.....

Well apparently my post was too honest because it seems one of the moderators pulled it. That's all I'll say - for now!

Not sure what you’re thinking of bluffrinkrat....I looked at our archives just now because I can’t remember 15 years ago for the life of me! Anyway, in ‘06’ we lost to the Gophers in the semifinals, and in ‘08’ it was UMD in the semifinals....other years before Scarano had his fun, we never got passed the quarters.......the Bulldogs blanked the Badgers 4-0 for the title in ‘08’

Love it. I saw a couple of the women’s World Cup games at bars in Toronto in 2019. One was USA vs a team I forget. Bartender put all the TVs to the women’s game, and the sound on. It was awesome, and pretty nice considering Canada not in the game. I assume he lost his business in the pandemic so maybe this anecdote sucks. God I am so ready for the game to start. Used to the 1 pm starts.

Not women's, but also in 2006, I was at that same bar watching the UW men's hockey play a quarterfinal NCAA game, against Cornell. Scoreless. through the first two overtimes. That day they had put me at a bar near the front door with "my" TV above the bar. People came in, looked up and saw hockey, went to watch their basketball game, had their game finish, were on their way out, and would stop and say "You're still here? What's the score?" etc. I would tell them scoreless in whichever overtime, and some would stay and watch for five or ten minutes.

(More than halfway through the third OT, the Cornell D got a little out of position - fatigue - a Badger forward picked up a loose puck bounce off the sideboards and buried it.)

Robert Earle: yikes, A scoreless game going into the third OT. Nightmarish, especially if you have a rooting interest. Although it sounds like yours won so it’s at least tolerable. I’m hoping today is 5-4, someone wins early in OT, lead changes, a shout out to Blair’s UND (and Hurst) history, and outlets and extensions cords for the media.

I checked and the bar I referenced earlier did not close in the pandemic, lol.

game time!

2006 the Badgers beat Minnesota in Mariucci arena. I happened to be wearing a red jacket, and the ticket seller looked me up and down and seated me in the Badger fan section. Not that it was an issue. The attendance seemed like that of an East coast team, a few hundred at most. In Mariucci it practically seemed empty. Definitely 2006 Badger title.

The contact has been even so nothing there, aside from teammates hitting each other....but man, do all WCHA teams have such stick work? Sheesh, some great whacks, hooked sticks and ankle chops in the corners! yes, the refs are letting them play.....
