Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

He'll regrow your base - which is needed.

The thing I like most about Dean is he's able to be a pragmatist while also keeping idealistic goals in mind. He also seems to be fairly neutral in the great moderate/liberal and insider/outsider battles in the party.

Of course part of his broad favorability right now could just be he's not in power so he's not making enemies. :)

Nah, our base is quite healthy and very large -- far larger than the GOP base -- but needs to be motivated to vote.

The days when our base included Rust Belt working class white Poors are over. Those folks are case-by-case outreach, now. That has been the great success of the rural Hate Radio assaults of the 90s and 00s. Derpy Dave the Sixpack Man used to hate the rich more than the blacks; now he hates the blacks more than the rich, and Derpy Dave is not going to come back from that for a while. We're in the dark age of tribal identity that accompanies a long arc recession, and we'll be in a long arc recession for as long as the Reagan tax policies remain on the books.

They're not holding as many statewide office was they used to.

As much as Hillary effed up the last election by ignoring key states, coming off as far too calculated and of course being tied to a somewhat tainted Camelot-wannabe Presidency, we should not ignore the impact that gerrymandering and voter suppression on behalf of the GOP had on stopping people from getting to the ballot box. Yes too many Bernies either ignored Hillary or voted Trump and she didn't do herself any favors, but the GOP has spent as much time trying to disenfranchise the opposition as they have on selling their own.

Exactly, IDK if you saw this when I posted it but WI is a prime example of all those things: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/10/voter-suppression-wisconsin-election-2016/

He also understood the importance of the local elections. He had a true strategy and a message. DWS just liked to hear the sound of her own voice.

I own that...stupid is stupid no matter the race or gender :D

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

If I was DB, I'd get a remote starter for the car and a taste tester. Even that may not be enough.

Yeah, appears the stupid ***** is finally admitting that the Party Machine was so broke and busted that Hillary was the only thing keeping the doors open. That's not Hillary's fault.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

My favorite part of Brazile's lunacy is her disclosure that she'd unilaterally change the ticket in September if she thought Hillary was ill and give the nomination to Biden. Yo', Donna, no one has that power, and if Hillary couldn't answer the bell, the rightful next man up was Bernie Sanders, who, ya know, actually contested the nomination and won millions of votes. Apparently not satisfied with just negating the votes of people who voted for Clinton, Queen Donna wanted to negate all the Sanders ones too! If she gets within 1000 feet of the next Dem get-together they should have her arrested.

Brazile's quotes are nothing more than a peek behind the curtain. Whether intentional or unintentional, they constitute an admission as to the true nature of the nomination process. All of these caucuses and primaries are just a different variation of Chomsky's manufactured consent. The parties can select whomever they want to serve as the nominee. All that matters is how they present it to the voters so that the voters think they're the ones who made the decision.
