Cory Booker decides to shiv his already dying campaign, introducing a slavery reparations bill.
Get used to it. The days of pretending that the baseline of America is white conservative Iowans are gone. Fat, happy, clueless, self-absorbed rural whites are just another minority group, now. 80% of this country lives in cities. Where they actually know black people.
I'm sure abolition came as a terrible shock to the rubes, too.
This nation can't even get health care done. Yang's UBI is a generation or more away from even being considered. But sure, handing out checks for wrongs done hundreds of years ago will surely get past 5% support.

I’m very much opposed to reparations that just write a check.
Edit: I’ll add that in general I’m still opposed to reparations. I just don’t think it’s an effective solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

We still benefit from it though.I think (think) he's referring to blaming current white folk to past problems that we were not part of...I could be wrong. To quote Christopher Titus, "You know we weren't there, right?"

This is awesome. It's like a time machine for reactions circa 1970 in the developed world.
