2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Obama was by far the best person to be president in over a hundred years. I doubt anybody else is in the same ballpark since Lincoln. His presidency was made less effective by the cowardice of his party and the outright psychosis of the other party.

I wonder if it could be argued (perhaps incorrectly) that Lincoln's presidency was made less effective by the "radical liberal" nature of his party at the time.

IIRC, Lincoln was a brokered candidate at the 1860 Republican convention. After his debates with Douglas in 1858 brought him some national notoriety, Lincoln was considered the moderate voice. It took him the first 2 years just getting the fellow Republicans also-rans whom he nominated to his administration to A) Realize he wasn't a country bumpkin they could easily manipulate and B) Unite them behind the cause of holding the union together, rather than running against him in 1864.

Of course, Lincoln was assassinated before the end of the war and before we could've known how he'd approach the post-war Congress full of even more "Radical Republicans". I'd like to think that Reconstruction under Lincoln would've gone smoother and better than it actually did. As we know, it was an abject failure.

Any woman who Biden has not touched inappropriately should seek medical attention immediately.

Kissing the back of a woman’s head! For shame. If you’re gonna touch, better grab them by the *****.

Gillibrand is spending her weekend sharpening a knife.

I really can’t describe how much I hate Gillibrand

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

She's not that bad.

She really is. But not in the usual way. She’s the type that has absolutely zero perspective. That’s just as toxic and dangerous as the things she’s supposedly trying to fight. And I’m not convinced she’s anything but a transparent opportunist.

Rick's opinion is noted. His Twatter presence has tripled in the Trump era as a prominent "Never Trump" Republican. I agree that issues that define the far left, like UBI, are losers in flyover country. However that's definitely not true with universal healthcare.

Maher had my frosh D rep, Elissa Slotkin, on his show Friday, and while she got far more bloviating than she bargained for (because Bill is really bad at talking over his guests, especially the ladies), she did get in a good point about listening to her constitutants and that not everyone who voted for Trump in MI-8 was a Cleetus/racist type, considering we broke for Obama in 2008 and 2012.

I like Rick...but his opinion is worthless on this subject for a bevy of reasons.

I don't know who this guy is, I just read this particular article, and I agree with the overall message.

His message is typical for a Righty advising the Left how to go. He is wrong as he has been in the past advising Righties.

Going to edit my POV, the guy's got one valid perspective - win through the middle. But that's where he loses his credibility - general criticism for every D candidate when there's a candidate for almost Dem. Really just using some valid perspective in an attempt of weak sabotage.

That is one reason I specified "overall message." :)

Go too far left, you're going to lose the middle.
