Reasonable. Who dies?

LOL

If that's your take you get the big whooooooooooooooooooooooosh. Sorry I ran into you here today because I'd rather just be ignored than having someone meltdown over hyperbole.

Not melting down...just calling out chicken little for doing what chicken little does.

LOL

Trump is President.

And? According to you democracy is dead forever. You always take things to the far extreme. It's old. I likely shouldn't have engaged you in the first place...but you hit my profession yet again so I said something.
I should know that when it comes to you...if you say it...odds are it's massively exaggerated.

Yep. Like the 3 billion birds that are missing from North America. Even I couldn't have chicken littled the actual state of Planet Earth today. Me extreme? No. It's worse than my extremes ever were. But, it is pretty funny how you still can't recognize hyperbole when you see it.

What's even funnier is your all, mommy like protective over your profession. You got a lot of fixing to do. Chuck Todd is the current moderator of Meet the Press which has been a cornerstone of the 4th estate since November 6, 1947.

But you go on.

FWIW my profession (IT) is complete dog****. Has been for 20 years now.

Good for your profession. Please tell me where I have ever defended Chuck Todd. I made one point...that despite your beliefs...journalism is not dead.
Good journalism is still being done locally and has been for years and you should know that. Hence why I said you have to look for it. National news stopped being good once they realized they could turn a profit on news.
As for Cronkite...he would have invited the liars on but they wouldn't have come on because he and guys like Murrow would have called them on their lies. That's the difference now...it's not that journalism is dead....its that it is corporate and you no longer get national figures willing to call those in power out because it offends or may offend corporate. I guarantee that's why these people keep being put on air....they draw ratings and therefore money for corporate. (And you are part of that problem with your Sunday show watching)
And again...you know this or you should if you have tue intellect you claim.
But you went you and went to the Nth degree again...and you got called out for it.
Now...as per usual...i will go back to eyerolling when you fly off

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

Since someone in the thread was asking why Tulsi is bad:
US congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard released a video message Thursday welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States but said she won’t be able to make it to the Howdy, Modi! outreach because of her presidential campaign obligations.

“Namaste! I would like to extend a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his latest visit to the US,” Gabbard said, adding, “and I am sorry that I will not be able to join there in person due to previously scheduled presidential campaign events.”
Modi has been committing all sorts of human rights abuses in Kashmir and was complicit in a 2002 massacre that killed hundreds if not into the thousands.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

Warren might want to re-think the structure of her "wealth tax thing"...

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/09/23/eli...may-include-a-1-million-marriage-penalty.html

Good luck with that. I’m not sure any wealthy person on the planet, especially if they are the sole breadwinner, would give half their money to their spouse no strings attached. Ain’t gonna happen. They’d rather b-tch and give 3% a year than give half. For people that rich, love is fungible in all but the most rare cases. They love their money more in the end.

If you’re both wealthy enough where you can afford that, meh. There will probably be clauses about cohabitation and hell, maybe even common law makes a comeback lol.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

buddy of mookie's wife threatened him with divorce once.....

buddy said "you stupid fool. you can't live on all my money. how do you think you'll survive on half?"

she was quiet and then agreed, she wouldn't divorce him

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

I figured it would take mookie less than an hour to have a comeback to the Warren marriage penalty comment. I’m not disappointed

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

she needs to dumb it down and make it simple.

two income tax brackets.
0-200k = 0%
200k+ = 49%

one wealth/asset bracket
everyone pays 2%

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

Are married couples with 100 million banked really whining about paying an extra million in taxes? Really?

**** em.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

If it comes down to shenanigans that, then I'll probably join Kep in saying it's time to send such people to the guillotine.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

I aspire one day to qualify to pay these taxes proposed by Sanders, Warren, AOC and the like. If I have that much money the government can take its slice.

Come as you are. I'll bring extra sans-culottes.

0-200k = 0%

everyone pays 2%

One bracket: 49% or whatever.

One exemption: $200k.

Done.

Everyone treated exactly alike.

With the high exemption it becomes politically possible to get rid of every other exemption and deduction. Taxable income = total income (all sources including gifts, intergenerational payments of any kind, cap gains, inheritance, etc) minus the single exemption.

I'll sign up for this, though of course I'd make the tax rate higher, like say 75%.

Likewise for wealth:

One luxury tax: 10%

One exemption: $5M

This is very attractive, mookie.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with my dad a few months back. He was railing on high taxes and how it was killing the Middle Class. Now mind you he supports nearly all socialist ideas (free college, free health care...etc) but he hates the idea of taxing the Middle Class to get there. (why he cares I dont know he has been at the Poverty Line for 20 years but I digress)

Dad: You cant just keep taxing everyone it doesnt work!
Me: Uh you get what you pay for. If you want good roads, good schools and healthy living you have to have taxes!
Dad: That is true but we are tapped we cant tax people anymore! WHO IS GONNA PAY!?!?
Me: Uh...me?
Dad: You would pay those rates?
Me: Yes. If we can find a way to make school and health care free not to mention have a high standard of living I will pay extra for that 100%. And if I ever make enough to qualify as "rich" I will pay more. That is what being part of a society is.
Dad: Ok

Now to be fair to my dad...he wants to cut the military budget by about a third and use every dollar to pay off student loans and give fully socialized medicine and free two years of school to start. My dad is an odd duck cause he wants all of that but somehow enjoys watching Faux News. Boomer Ex-Hippies are WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIRD :D
