... the oil money is dried up.

Clearly you're not in the loop on ND budgets and politics. State revenues from oil and ag are mere fractions of what they were just 5-10 years ago. Bergum's been dealing with resizing, reshaping, and reforming State budgets and government since his election. And he's succeeding.

Who do Republicans scapegoat when there's no blacks or browns? Do the injuns really carry the hate freight up there, or it is (((Soros))) goblins?

They just suppress the injun vote. Make sure they get the "right" people in office and get rid of the "wrong" people (Heidi Heitkamp). Those same rules got them this wonderful Governor Sic is raving about.

Man that's a perfect knee-capping of all the dimbulbs who support Schultz AND the Fark Independents and "centrists".

Panel 4 is the best denunciation of the political media I've seen.

Well in Alaska it's usually the Alaska Natives err "homeless criminals", then promise a big PFD check, no taxes and voila! Republicans back in charge.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Nobody is ready to run for president the first time. It's sui generis. That kid from South Bend might be the best candidate. We won't know until we see them play it out. Same with Klobuchar.

Unknowns are no reason to oppose. We instinctively see a large field and try to create discriminators, but this early we should just sit back and let the information come in unfiltered and without having set up favorites. Preserve autonomy for as long as possible, because after you start making distinctions your unconscious biases will turn you into an idiot who is rooting, not thinking.

That is the great lesson of 2016. They're not prospective dates, they're tools in the shed. Eventually we'll pick one for the job, but all the power of picking should come from us being logical, independent judges, not fans.

And I'm not against Klobuchar. I can't say either way right now, because she hasn't officially decided to run, and hasn't faced those additional questions about the issues that a presidential candidate will face. If and when that happens, THEN I'll decide whether I like her for the job or not.

Poll of candidate favorable amongst the Dems:

Measuring the 2020 Democrats’ fav/unfav ratings (among Dems)

From yesterday’s Monmouth poll:
•Biden: 80 percent favorable, 9 percent unfavorable (+71)
•Sanders: 68 percent favorable, 19 percent unfavorable (+49)
•Warren: 57 percent favorable, 17 percent unfavorable (+40)
•Harris: 46 percent favorable, 13 percent unfavorable (+33)
•Booker: 44 percent favorable, 11 percent unfavorable (+33)
•O’Rourke: 41 percent favorable, 9 percent unfavorable (+32)
•Gillibrand: 28 percent favorable, 12 percent unfavorable (+16)
•Castro: 24 percent favorable, 9 percent unfavorable (+15)
•Klobuchar: 23 percent favorable, 8 percent unfavorable (+15)
•Gabbard: 21 percent favorable, 9 percent unfavorable (+12)
•Brown: 19 percent favorable, percent unfavorable (+11)
•Bloomberg: 35 percent favorable, 25 percent unfavorable (+10)

My initial reaction is that this is good news for Harris. The Big 3 ahead of her are almost universally known and even people like O'Rourke got a significant amount of press last year. A good kick off and plenty of room to grow.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Lol Bloomberg, at least he's doing better than that blowhard Howard Schultz.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Why Bloomberg sucks? His stances arent that great and most of his speeches are meh. He will die early in the primaries if he even makes it that far.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

I don’t think you can look at the favorables in that poll. I think you have to look at unfavorables. Anyone under 10 is sitting pretty.

And I think it’s because people haven’t made up their mind about you yet if your unfavorable numbers are low. Once those numbers tick up, people are almost impossible to bring around. Not in a one-year cycle.

The negative numbers also tend to metastasize. So if you’re already showing a large group dislike you, it’s not going to get better. It’s just going to drag you and potentially the party down.

Anybody under 10 will be over 40 the moment opponents bother to focus on them. The easiest thing in the world is to crank up somebody's negatives. Look at what the Noise Machine did to an anodyne nobody like Kerry. Whoever is seriously in line to be the Dem nominee will be believed by every person on the right to be a murdering Muslim Mexican pedophile by this time next year.

Tucker had a segment last night about Biden's history of controversial racial remarks. Maybe Faux saw the polls and are nervous he might run. ;)
