2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

Name a more ambitious progressive than him that's even been talked about as a potential candidate. If you think someone more progressive is going to come out of left field and run I'm not entirely discounting that possibility but I feel like we would've heard about it by now.

He has plenty of plans to raise taxes and he can pay for his programs the same way every other president has paid for everything else, so this is laughable and economically illiterate. Nancy Pelosi is that you?

Ageism and a non-relevant talking point.

Yeah I know, as you've said the only thing that matters is being white and a male and that's why he's gonna win except when it's Bernie then those things are bad somehow. Also the vast majority of his likability was being not Ted Cruz which literally anyone other than Hillary can pull off.

You are literally out of your mind. Beto likability has nothing to do with being a white male. Good God...

I am done with you...you don't even read the posts you rant about and have zero ability to discuss anything in depth or actually critically think when it comes to politics. Enjoy...

No, he did not. He had zero charisma. He was at Al Gore/Michael Dukakis levels of Charisma when he ran. Bush would have lost to anyone close to Male Clinton and Obama levels of Charisma. Easily.

He did in the 70s...by the time he ran he was a statue.

Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Other Democrats Shift into High Gear for 2020
New York Times

Senator Kamala Harris of California is eyeing Baltimore or Atlanta as a possible base of operations for her likely 2020 presidential bid and is close to bringing on a top aide to run her campaign. Ms. Harris is expected to name Juan Rodriguez, who helmed her campaign for the Senate in 2016, as her manager.

Elizabeth Warren, the Massachusetts senator, has completed a detailed review of her writings and political record to identify potential vulnerabilities, and her aides have been scouting headquarters near Boston.

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey has been interviewing possible campaign managers, as well as strategists who could run his Iowa caucus effort.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has been reaching out to more women than men for campaign roles, though she is expected to pick a man — her current top aide — to manage a campaign likely to be based near her upstate New York home. Ms. Gillibrand is eyeing Jess Fassler, her current top aide, who is leaving his role in the Senate early in 2019, as a leading contender to manage her campaign.

Mr. O’Rourke, for one, has mentioned to political strategists that he’d like to hire a female campaign manager. Michael R. Bloomberg, the former New York City mayor who recently joined the Democratic Party, has been conducting polling and other research to test his prospects, and has suggested he will decide on the race in January or February. And Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado and his team have interviewed at least 80 people for potential campaign roles, settling on a veteran adviser of his own, Bradley Komar, to lead his effort if he enters the race.

A number of other influential politicians may be slower to decide on a presidential race, including Senators Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, as well as Mr. O’Rourke. All have been asking for advice about the presidential campaign, and supporters of Mr. Brown and Mr. O’Rourke have formed committees to draft them into the race.

the fact that this is a vulnerability but paying off porn stars, mocking disabled reporters, talking about grabbing women's *******, and having a 3rd graders understanding of government isn't a vulnerability is pretty ****ed up

All that isn't a problem if your opponent is a woman. If your opponent is another white man then you're probably in trouble.

Pretty sad this is a thing and banging porn stars while your wife is pregnant is no big deal now.

Regardless, how will she sweep it aside? Because it is an issue.

Especially considering half the voters last time had backlash against others different from them. Being seen as pretending to be a minority to get ahead when you are not is near death for a candidate.

IMO she has no chance of surviving it. Hopefully she's just running for the experience. I've heard a lot of those that don't win find it a great experience.

She's four years too late because it was Hillary's turn.

Hate to be blunt, but I don't think she'll survive not being likeable. In a poll, she had the highest percentage of 'she shouldn't run' to 'she should run' by Dem likely voters. The Indian issue will be an excuse.
