Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

Did anyone young and interesting speak at the 2016 DNC like Obama in '04 or was it all old farts?

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

The War in Iraq was a disaster by that time. Bush convinced everyone that Kerry wasn't a war hero. He lied and it worked. This coming from a guy that pussed out and joined the guard.
JKerry definitely had charisma though it didn't show up enough during his campaign (which was pretty dull from what I recall).

Bush's approval rating was still somewhere north of 50% when he would've been campaigning for his second term, it was above 60% in late 2003 after Sadaam was captured. It took a while after we were still there for Bush's approval rating to finally dip below 50% as the perception of the war got worse and worse with each passing year after that.

No, he did not. He had zero charisma. He was at Al Gore/Michael Dukakis levels of Charisma when he ran. Bush would have lost to anyone close to Male Clinton and Obama levels of Charisma. Easily.

FrankenKerry was the common term I remember hearing.

Huh? He had no Charisma. None. And he did not have an uphill battle. The War in Iraq was a disaster by that time. Bush convinced everyone that Kerry wasn't a war hero. He lied and it worked. This coming from a guy that pussed out and joined the guard.

Kerry nailed a who’s who’s list of starlets. If all it took was well off senators Mitch and friends would be doing better than Elaine Choi

No, he didn't. Every presidential election in my lifetime, with the possible exception of GHW Bush over Dukakis, the more charismatic person won. And even that one is a close call.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

Kerry had plenty of charisma during the Vietnam war hearings and before he ran for president, it didn’t show up during the campaign and you can blame the dem establishment and whoever ran his campaign for that. It’s also not the only reason he lost and that assertion is ludicrous.

The bigger issue is that the policy proposals of the Dems outside of Obama (who campaigned further to the left than what he actually did when he had power) were mostly just middle of the road economic policies that lacked any clear agenda for working class people.
