fade at least knows mookie's salary (recall mookie wants income <200k tax free, start the 40% marginal bracket at 200k+ :p then tax assets under the 3% wealth)

Hate to agree with Scoobs but Slap Shot you're living in la la land, and I don't mean Los Angeles. It's like saying if we're just nicer to terrorists they'll stop trying to attack us. Its absurd.

The GOP voting base has been radicalized. Its like dealing with a feral cat. Yes every once in awhile you may be able to tame one but really we're past the point where its worth the effort. The new Dem coalition will be educated people + the under 55 crowd + non-whites. Yes there's some overlap in there but there also has be some give and take on policy as its not a monolithic coalition like the GOP cult (old and white, full of hate).

The middle term drops out. Our coalition is non-whites (23%) and college educated whites (33% x 77%).

.23 + .33 * .77 =
.23 + .25 =
.48

As America becomes more non-white and more whites get a college education we will bury the Republicans. They will stem the tide as long as possible with voter suppression but every time we have a breakthrough we'll roll that back to one man / one vote. Their Court will keep them competitive by more and more ridiculous casuistry, but even that won't last.

As the GOP continues on in this way they will be finished as a peaceful political force. As they turn violent many of their remaining supporters and their donors will abandon them, and we will have to deal with a homegrown terrorist group numbers in the tens of millions, armed to the teeth, with a fanatical eschatological ideology, and no education.

That'll be fun.

Yes, but his accomplishments were practically zilch and he lost the Supreme Court for probably the next two generations. And, he lost a record number of seats in the House and Senate while he was in office.
