They are both. Nobody here hates the 1% more than I. Just because somebody is an ally doesn't mean they are a friend. They are lethal -- but they are also a force that would resist a descent into violence.

Use them and then turn on them.

Just because they don't want violence (because it threatens the status quo) doesn't mean they aren't our enemy. The status quo they're trying to maintain doesn't work, is completely unsustainable, and is directly causing the destruction of our planet.

I never said they weren't our enemy. I said they are our ally in this particular endeavor (containing the Republican threat before it becomes violent).

You may feel that an all out civil war is preferable to delaying the guillotines. I don't, in part because of the carnage of civil war and in part because the record of human societies emerging from civil wars is not very positive in terms of getting the yoke of a ruling class off their neck. Jacobinism is fun but Bonapartism follows. Bolshevism looks great but Stalinism not so much. And the less said about Mao the better.

Nobody wants an all out civil war lmao, we want Amazon to pay some taxes and aggressive plans that deal with poverty, healthcare, and climate change among other things. The 1% is clearly against all of that and have been throughout pretty much all of history. They'll gladly support fascism over something more egalitarian that's been proven countless times.

I have no problem reducing the 1% to penury. What I am suggesting is while they are the root cause the more immediate problem is the symptom of their orcs using their guns and explosives to genocide everybody they don't like. Before we do France 1794 let's prevent Rwanda 1994.

Look at it this way, if gives two opportunities to vote against trump. Register as independent and take a Republican ballot in the primary, vote weld. Assuming Weld does not win, vote for the democratic nominee in the general.

For welds second term in mass, independent voters went his way 9-1 or something along those lines.

Buttery Males would be a great name for a male revue targeting Republican women.

Though I guess most already do - can't quite imagine the womyn's studies crowd having the sense of humor (or gender preference)....

From my wife's gender studies friends I can tell you nobody has a better, more self-deprecating sense of humor about that stuff. They run circles around even our humor let alone the old, tired, sexist, deeply defensive jokes about them.

It's possible that the PhD candidates are funny and the undergrads aren't, but that's probably true in every field.
