Because he's sinking in Iowa while Warren is rising? From the recent poll with prior results on the right:

Biden 24 (27)

Sanders 16 (25)

Warren 15 (9)

Buttigieg 14 (1)

Harris 7 (7)


So, Biden is more or less the same (3 points could be just statistical noise), Buttigieg has done the best (from 1 to 14), Harris also holding steady but no growth.

BUT, Sanders is sinking like a stone (from 25 down to 16!?!) while Warren has a nice increase (up to 15 from 9).

The only decent and strategic thing to do is for Bernie to quit the race and throw his support behind Warren. Obviously if he does so not every one of his people will back Warren, but combine their share and even with some leakage Lizzy is still no worse than even with Uncle Joe.

Biden is coming up with these quotes weekly, and I’m not sure who he’s trying to play to. The republicans have been playing this game literally since the night Obama was inaugurated and that was a full 7 years before Trump ever gave a speech. There are some conservatives out there fed up with Trump, but I guarantee they’re far more likely to vote libertarian or sit out than vote blue.

I chalk Biden's comments up to "sh it people say when running for Prez" but he's making a strategic gambit here. He's going after the white working class but not insane voter who's sickened by kids being thrown into cages and all the grifters and loons joining the administration to line their own pockets right up to Chump himself. Will it work? Who knows. But, he's betting on winning ME-2, PA, MI, WI, and IA - basically the Obama 2012 states and making a play for Ohio as well. One would also assume that while Bernouts won't enthusiastically vote for him, or vote at all, several million of them won't treasonously vote FOR Trump like they did last time.

As a Sanders fan from 2016 I have never met a Bernie Bro and have a feeling they are basically a myth. I'm sure there are tens of as-sholes who fit the description because there are examples of everything in Life's Rich Pageant, but as an actual force I just don't buy it. I travel in Far Left circles, I know Sanders' people. They are appalling in their own way (many of them are leftover hippies which I frankly find pathetic on a personal level though I appreciate the ideological allegiance. Many others are hyperactive kids who have yet to learn things like perspective. Or Bathing.) but they are nothing like this conspiracy theory of crazed purists who are at the same time fevered sexists.

I know it's a wonderful centrist boogeyman, but I'm afraid it just isn't real.

This is definitely my impression. Sanders and Warren are after the same thing: economic justice. Sanders has a Frankfurt School view of it; Warren has an Ivy Faculty view of it. But they're on the same scent. Nobody else in the Dem field has anything like their chops on the issue. They are naturally each other's second choice.
