2020-21 UVM Catamounts: A New Era Begins

Bummer to lose in the shootout again, but good game by the Cats! So much improvement over their first three games. Just need a little scoring now. Go Cats.
 
More improvement is nice! I'm of the belief that process is more important than results this season so I'm very happy with that. Shootout wins are illegitimate so I'm not too angry about that but man, it sucks going through the garbage new OT rules even more when you know we should have won that game if not for a horrible call.
 
Can’t believe Sneddon let Harmon play like 3 games in his first 3 years. What an ass. Lekkas was great but come on. Sorry to hash the past. Love the progress but hate the hole left by previous staff...

I feel like he did that because he drove two good goalies out of the program by being too committed to Santaguida and a 2-goalie system (Hoffman and Munson) and decided to do the opposite with Lekkas but funny enough benched Santaguida his senior year to do that. I would say in this upcoming stretch I do hope that Carriere can make a start or at least get some time even though Harmon has been good it is exactly what you say and makes you wonder if he'd be better with more game time so you want to make sure the possible goalie of the future gets some time.

Hoping in this next set of 4 games the team can get their first win. Maine hasn't played in a while and might be rusty coming into the Gut.

EDIT - He wasn't in the BFP article which went through all the newcomers either, but WAS in the UVM article when the incoming class was announced. That's weird.

FWIW - Schiavon was supposed to come in next year but enrolled early because the BCHL (where he was playing) cancelled their season.

Mystery solved! Phip Waugh left school for the NCDC, must feel he'll get more TOI than he would otherwise at UVM:

Also, as it relates to Schiavon, the BCHL didn't cancel its season, it's just on indefinite hiatus. Still a good reason to make the jump.
 
Game day. It'll be interested to see what the new-look Cats can do today against Maine. First game against a non upper-tier HE team. Would be nice to score some goals. Only scored 2 in a game once so far this season. Go Cats!

I was so impressed how the team hustled to the puck and the aggressive forecheck, especially on the penalty kill. I’ve always said a team that may not have the same talent as others can make up for it by being in better shape and out hustling the opponent. I hope they keep up the intensity.

I’m also impressed with the video quality at home games.

I just wish the coaches would keep their masks on, especially when talking to the players.

Let’s get another win tomorrow.
 
Sloppy first period all around. Carriere looks really good again. Much better second with 3-4 great looks in addition to the goal. Feels like a next goal wins situation.
 
Guys showed good heart coming back from 3-0 down, probably should've gotten a point from that...but it shows that this team can take a punch and bounce back in-game. Just...maybe don't go down 3-0 next time :P
