2020-21 UVM Catamounts: A New Era Begins

Carriere made some very tough saves look easy; he should start tomorrow. Other standouts tonight-Mullin (hustle!!) and Esposito.

2-2 draw! I'll take it.

Sucks to lose the point in the shootout but at least we avoided defeat in the gimmick that mattered. (3 on 3 is just as much of a gimmick as the shootout. Fight me. And it's worse at this level than NHL because the skill gap is a hell of a lot more variable.)

Hutchison looks like a player, good to see Vitolins get on the board, Harmon was fantastic. Long had some nice moments as well.

Showed a lot of improvement in this one, defended like hell. The penalties have to chill though cause that's what really cost us.

Looking better and better each game. Great in the defensive zone, good in the neutral zone, ok in the offensive zone. Excited to continue watching this team’s progress under Woodcroft.

Fun game to watch last night. Seemed like the team in general and especially Carter Long were doing a much better job anticipating Northeastern's play rather than reacting to it. Nice to see better puck possession in the first 2 periods. Relied a little to much on Harmon in the 3rd period.

I think the coaches handled the goalies very well this weekend. Got the freshman some game time and told Harmon to be ready for Sunday's game. And Harmon crushed it.

Need to stay out of the penalty box.

Love that UVM is now a destination for student transfers. Speaks well for the direction the program and the new coaching staff.

I am not looking forward to 3 more years facing Gunnar Fontaine although he is fun to watch.

Great game overall last night. Exciting to watch. Harmon killed it and I think we have potential for a good tandem based on what've I seen of him and Carriere. Mullins and Long showed great flashes of brilliance throughout the game. Need to work on defensive turnovers (there were a few cross ice passed that were intercepted) and that penalty in the offensive zone led to a goal but there is a lot of potential and a ton of improvement from the Umass series. On the flip side Gunnar Fontaine is going to be a star and Jayden Struble was an absolute beast out there.

It was really good to see them get the point but I don't think I'm a fan of the 3 on 3 or the shootout and I would hope those aren't used in the playoffs of any kind moving forward. It is still clear there's a talent shortage but if they're competing every night and some of the guys who are able to come back next year start showing improvements in their games that is a plus.

I wish Mullin could come back for another year maybe they strike it lucky again and find some more transfers that can help in the short term while also upping the talent level coming in down the line. Would love to see a Gunnar Fontaine like player or two end up on the Cats.

I agree 100 percent about 3 on 3 OT

Another new commit today. Cal Thomas from Maple Grove, MN. '03 LHD playing for USHL Sioux Falls (alongside UVM commits Karter McNarland and Mario Gasparini)

Is today’s game not streaming? I clicked on the video link at UVM athletics, which takes me to the site, but the game’s not there.

Tomorrow's game is also not there. When I go to the main CBS Sports site it's there, but you have to pay for it. According to HEA every games is going to be streamed for free. If the game's on NESN, as is the case today, streaming's not available in New England. I have a feeling they just made it unavailable to everyone, regardless of where you live. I'm in Atlanta and definitely can't access it for free. Bummer....:(

Finally found the game with about 12 minutes left in the second. Guess I won't use the link UVM provides to get to the games anymore. Lesson learned.

I'm out of NE right now and I can access it

Should be 1-0 UVM after 2 periods. First period goal called off (puck was loose, SUPER early whistle). I don’t think it’s a stretch to say literally every UVM player is looking better and better each game. The team as a whole, same. Looks like Woodcroft and co. will have these guys seeing success sooner than expected.

If you have a smart TV or streaming device like a Roku or Apple TV you can get the CBS Sports app and it has it all there.

Would be nice to finish strong and get the win in regulation here because I really don't like these OT rules but I guess if they hold out for another 20 and the OT they at least get a point.
