2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

The suburban shift to D vote was reflected in the Twin Cities House. Every single urban and suburb went blue including Maple Grove and EP...from Blaine to Shakopee...from Stillwater to Mound. This can't be a long term winning strategy for Republicans.

Most people in my district in Woodbury couldn't have even named who the Democrat was that was running--he was that invisible. He won anyway.

In Minnesota and some other states maybe it’s a problem, but in plenty of others it’s not a problem at all.

Would he have?
We'll never know because Harry Reid opened the door for him.

Reid needed to get his judicial parade down the street. So he did what he did to be expedient, forget the future consequences.

Reid's move gave Mitch the same judicial parade power and a scapegoat.

Sure we do. He stole Garland's seat and was rewarded for it. There is no doubt he would've gone nuclear regardless.

But Mitch was never given the rope to hang himself, so we are left with personal beliefs and speculation.

It's amusing that you continue to suggest that there would have been any sort of repercussions for him.

Never said that: if Mitch had opened the door I'd fully expect the next D Senate majority leader to take full advantage and point the finger at Mitch.

Criminal defendants get convicted on less circumstantial evidence than what I'm basing my opinion on.

So Mitch is guilty because Reid pulled the trigger?

"But Mitch would've if Harry hadn't" would garner a conviction?

So you and Joe have still never answered my question. If you were Harry Reid and facing total obstruction, what would you have done differently?

Mitch "My sole goal is to make Obama a one term president"
He stole Garland's seat.
He was historic in the amount of obstructionism he committed, including filibustering his own bill.
He promptly killed the filibuster for SCOTUS nominees when given the chance.
He's killed several other Senate norms without hesitation, such as blue slipping judges.

So yeah, I am confident beyond a reasonable doubt that there is no way the nuclear option would've survived 2 years ago.

That's true. Wisconsin's urban area Milwaukee is an immasculated island rather like Indianapolis - it really destroys business development. So the suburbs are totally disconnected with no progressive urban integration and really become rural in their own right.

The belief that McConnell wouldn't have played fair on judicial appointments is based on something pretty rock solid. The fact that McConnell was already not playing fair on judicial appointments.

Kim Davis lost re-election last night!

At least for her, she'll never have to sign another marriage license again!
