Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

The locals probably already know this, but the pig thing goes back to St. Paul originally (and still sometimes affectionately) being called Pig's Eye. They bring in a new pig each year, and they end up being over 150 lbs. at the end of each season.

An argument can be made for it being the best episode of all time.

Trying to remember how Mr. Burns' team of all-stars disappeared, too. Someone was arrested for all the unsolved murders in New York, I do remember that.

I'm pretty sure that was Steve Sax.

Actually, just looked it up on Wiki.

Before the game, eight of the nine all-star players suffer unrelated misfortunes that prevent them from playing: Clemens suddenly behaves like a chicken due to the hypnotist's incompetence, Boggs is knocked unconscious by Barney after a bizarre argument at Moe's Tavern (over who was England's greatest Prime Minister, Lord Palmerston or Pitt the Elder), Griffey, Jr. takes an overdose of nerve tonic, resulting in an extreme case of gigantism, Sax is arrested by the Springfield Police and put in jail for every unsolved murder in New York City, Smith disappears in the "Springfield mystery spot", Canseco is too busy rescuing a woman and her possessions from a fire, Mattingly is kicked off the team by Mr. Burns due to sideburns only he can see, and Scioscia is hospitalized due to radiation poisoning from the plant. Mr. Burns is forced to use his original employees, along with Strawberry, the only star who can play. Homer remains on the bench as Strawberry plays his position.

With the score tied and bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Mr. Burns elects to field a right-handed hitter against a left-handed pitcher and pinch hits Homer for Strawberry. Distracted by Burns, the very first pitch hits Homer in the head, rendering him unconscious, but forcing in the winning run. The team wins the title and Homer, still unconscious, is paraded as a hero.

Daaaaryl! Daaaaryl!

I can **** near quote that entire episode from memory when watching it. It really was phenomenal.

It was peak simpsons.

Every time I watch that clip, I still think the umpire blew it. Soccer refs are instructed from the start to make calls within the spirit of the game.

I understand this isn't soccer , but this is an abortion of that principle. **** that dick head.

Most of us soccer refs call it "Law 18", aka common sense.

I like the comment "Lesson for the kids out there: Don’t try to make baseball fun." Pretty much sums it up.

Twins up 8-2 in the 7th. Cool. Another win!

Astros score 11 runs in the 8th. Oh...

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

The twins have given up 48 runs on 73 hits in their last four games. They also struck out 50 times and left 71 on base.

Math could be off a little. I'm tired but can't fall asleep.

This may be the regression back to where everyone thought they would be. This is the toughest portion of their schedule, let's hope they have even a shred of confidence left when it ends.
